Take a hike part 2 (picture heavy)

I forwarded the link to ruthieg's hike to my son, Ryan. He's the family risk taker. His Summer job is on a firefighting crew in New Mexico. And when he's not "on the line" he is always looking for someplace new and exciting to travel to. His response to the link was to send me pictures of a place in China that he has been wanting to go see.

Mt. Huashan is located in the south of Huayin city, China, 120 kilometers east of Xi'an, with an elevation of 2200 meters above sea level. The Huashan Mountain is surrounded by five peaks that looks live five petals of a flower. The Huashan Mountain, hence, takes its name after its shape - a lotus flower with five petals.

Mt. Huashan is famous for its breath-taking cliffs and the dangerous 12-kilometer-long winding path up to the top. Mt Huashan has only one path leading to the top, and it doesnÂt help when the path looks like this.

Ron, I was just watching a video on Mt. Huashan yesterday. After the stomach turning video Ruthie posted, I went in search of more. Don't ask me why!

I found a video by a world traveler named Modern Gonzo. He climbs Mt. Huachan and I swear, he is holding the camera with one hand while he does it. Or so it seems.

Once I watched the video, I found his web site and spent the next hour traveling around the world with him.

Don't we live on a magnificent planet?!! I can almost smell the pines and hear the water, it reminds me a good deal of the White Mtns. of NH, but on a much reduced scale. Breathtaking, 'bug. I was particularly taken by the colors in the shots with Mule deer and Big Horn sheep; that lovely soft, buff tinged with grey, hat will soon be replaced with Spring's fresh greens. I have been involved with this woman now for 5 years. After 4 years I broke up with her because her ex husband was stalking me and impersonated a sales man to talk to my children to get information, among other things. Also he poisoned his kids to not accept me which made things very difficult for us. She was very depressed, so I decided to break up the relationship because this was the right thing to do at that time. Giving her time to build her relationship back with her children and family. I know I hurt her immensely, but at that time I thought it was the good thing to do. She called me back after a week and tried to win my heart back and told me she loved me and only wanted me. I told her that we should be friends for now. However, after a couple of weeks of seeing each other every day, I started to feel that our relationship was worth fighting for; I told her I love her too. We were doing everything together, dinners, movies, dancing and we were intimate. But later I found out that she was chatting online with someone from a dating site for 10 weeks. During that time she was trying to win my heart back which she did About 7 weeks before this. She kept me a secrete from all her friends, but she was telling all her friends about the guy she was chatting with and wanted to go see him. Her friends told her to wait because it may be dangerous. So she continued her affair and became emotionally attached. After spending a long weekend with me she decided to tell the other guy that she is getting back with me. Then she told me about it. But, when she told her friends that she was back with me they all told her to dump me. So she started to treat me very badly and did not get rid of the contact of the other guy on MSN. She was waiting for him to reply back to her because he said he wanted to be friends. The problem is she lied about the whole thing. She told me that she chatted with him only 5 times. But I found out the truth. That she was using me as a crutch to move on. She lied, denied and manipulated her way into my home with her kids. Now I feel betrayed. What should I do? I feel she picked me second. She told me 2 months after she got rid of the contact that if she gave the other guy a chance it would of worked out. That hurt. She new me for 4 years and she never even met this person. Now she tells me she loves me very much.

oldbat: they look great in person. It is really hard to capture the light they put off. My friend told me that she felt like she was sitting in a high end bar or restaurant when we were sitting at the island last week. They really create a warm lovely glow. They also are the only hanging lights in the entire room which is basically the house since it's open concept so it really defines the space. Here is a photo of them with a low light filter. I have a good bit of stuff to go. I have the butcher block at home but I haven't had the time or the muscle to move it yet. I also have some cabinets for above the big one and sink area. Glass needs to go into the uppers, etc etc.

Looks like something my son would love he just got back
from whitewater kayaking in Mexico. He was the one I caught pulling the trampoline over by the garage and jumping off the roof..........Sandy

OMG! I am surprised you have any hair left on your head Ron! If it wasn't gray or falling out from that I'd be pulling it out! LOL

I'm with Kat on this one. Good lord I can't stand on a ladder if its over 5 feet high! I'd be frozen stiff and totally unable to move.

Those pictures make me physically sick! My DD is into rock climbing.. but I'm not sure she would even like that!

What do the flags signify? Is it where people have stumbled to their deaths? :-0

Are these people nuts or just out of their mind???? Death wish maybe? No Thanks, I'll pass on this one. I would need a pile of parachutes & a helipopter attached to me. Not even thinking about it. I think I'll just jump and get it over with.

My dh and I have done our share of ... scary hikes... but niw thast I'm older, well, I'm saner! And oh no no no... that hike in China.... hell, NO!

Those pictures give me butterflies just looking at them.I won't even go higher than the 3rd floor in a hotel.Scared to death of heights.

DH and his brother have made 2 trips to China, did lots of walking on the Great Wall, DH did but not his brother too much, and he said not at this time. He has hiked alot in CA with backpacks on a 50-100 mile trips in the High Sierras to the top of Mt Whitney with the troop of Boy Scouts several time. Also did San Gorgonio (sp) in the Palm Springs area. That was many moons ago. He did some hiking in China, but nothing liked that.
