Pesky, I really wish I'd known that. If I had, I very likely would have opted to go short all at once instead of being so wishy-washy about it.

Work, it's slightly angled - a little shorter in back than in the front. And since the above pic was taken and I went a little shorter still, it's not so long on the sides. More like right at chin level.

I must admit to having developed a fascination for the little bobbed hairstyles of the 1930s since going short myself! Those little finger-waves that were all the rage ... I almost wish those styles would come back!

I don't know many men who prefer short hair to long, but honestly, I'm past the point of caring! DH had better be attracted to me, simply because I'm me. ;-D

Love your attitude auntjen! When I cut my hair short, I only went back to a longer style, (and not beyond sitting on my shoulders) for a short period of time. Went thru a phase of wanting to use my old hot rollers. lol Really, I love my hair short, particularly the ease of being able to get ready in less than 30 minutes! Comes in very handy for a spur of the moment social invitation, or having hit the snooze button one too many times.

Another fan of the 30's finger-waves bob style, so sophisticated and feminine.

I have been loving my hair the last week or so since I discovered Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil. It's not 100% Aragan oil, but it has done absolute wonders for my usually frizzy hair. I normally have to flat iron my hair to get rid of the frizzies, but with this product I can let my hair dry naturally and have no frizz, just nice curls. It doesn't feel like I have anything in my hair at all, no oily heavy feeling, and the price is right too! I paid about $7 locally.

I think men like long hair because it reads "young" to them. I have noticed that they will think anyone with long, blonde hair is "hot"- even if she's not very pretty at all. Anne Coulter, for example.

AJ, of course, really IS a truly PRETTY blonde...with long, or shorter, goldi-locks. But I really like her new look the best!

I agree that AJ is a truly pretty blonde! I wish I could have my hair like that, but it's too coarse and has too much wave to it.

nacnybee, without taking this too far off topic - I once attended an event that had AC as a speaker. I popped in at the end to meet up with my companions who were attending her talk, I was avoiding it. She touched her hair constantly, flipping it around, petting it, acting like a 15 yo girl flirting with a 15 yo boy. It drove me crazy. The good thing was it did distract me from hearing her message. I thought how could any adult take you seriously when you're up there acting like a teenager? My companions said it was a good talk.

Sorry, I digress, carry on with the hair discussion.

Thank heavens this didn't turn out to be another heart-rending cat post. I hear ya', oakley. I didn't open it for ages for the same reason. Jen, you look fabulous, quite chic. I have another DH who likes the locks long and I'm way past the proper age for that. OTOH, I can't imagine trying to style it daily, especially since I'm probably looking at shoulder surgery soon. So, long it stays. Yes, they take non-virgin hair. If they can't use it, they can donate it for credit toward their expenses.

hhireno, You don't even need to go to Ulta to get the Organix product. Target, Rite-Aide, Walmart and other stores carry it.
For me, with this new "miracle" product long hair is actually less work than shorter hair, because I can literally wash and go. Something that I have wanted to do my whole life!

Speaking of good things for your hair, I recommend trying the Rusk Sensories Wellness line. I really, really, like the "heal" conditioner. My hair's very healthy but I noticed a difference immediately and have had other people even comment how healthy my hair looks. It combines olive oil, coconut oil, and argan oil. Don't let the consistency throw you off. When I first used it felt like I needed more but when I added the extra, it still felt the same on my hair. I guess I'm trying to say, you don't need much and you may feel like it's going to do nothing when you first slap it on your hair.

Luckily for me, the Ulta is in the same strip mall with the Target. Now that I know Ulta's price & have their 20% coupon I can check Target first to see which will be the better deal.

Another women that I don't think is simply pretty because she has gorgeous locks, is Sarah Jessica Parker. But, she can dress beautifully.

My hair isn't long, but I've been growing it in order for someone have enough to do a good cut/shape. If I could have a happy carefree look like yours I would be one happy lady. Lovely doo.

Jen and Jane: very nice! Fresh, perky and a lil bit sassy. ;) I have an appointment again tomorrow. Have been thinking of going shorter for a change. It will all depend on my mood while actually sitting in the chair, major changes tend to be impulse decisions for me.

She told me that soft loose curls and waves are becoming all the rage in contrast to the stick straight flat ironed look that ruled for so long. One stylist even had a very short cut, pixie. Lots of layers gently scrunched around and just hints of little wispy spikes here and there on the tips. (I'm not describing it well...sort of like Meg Ryan's in French Kiss, only shorter.) She looked so fresh and so cool as a cucumber, especially in that awful heat.

Jane, what an absolutely perfect hairdo! I love it! It frames your face beautifully and is just, well ... you! Now you're tempting me to go shorter!

Moon, I do know that style you're describing and love it! When my hair was long I'd go back and forth between letting it curl/wave naturally and flat-ironing it, but when I did the latter I really felt as though I were trying to look like every 21 year old girl out there. That's been such a ubiquitous style for so long and I'm a little glad that it's starting to fade a bit. I really love seeing young women who aren't afraid to wear a very individual style. (Then again, I've certainly gone with the flow for a very long time, and when I was their age the Farrah flip was all the rage, and yes ... I wore it too. ;-))

So....my cut is almost ready to be cut again...I get it done every 3-4 weeks. I got it done 8/12, so when I get it done I will post a before and after...want you to see how really short it gets and how fast it grows...c

Jane, put that basic style on a much older face that's starting to sag and bag, and yep - that's very similar to my current look. My cut is a little bit shorter than that, and the next time I go in for a trim I think I'll go a tiny bit shorter still! Ahhhh ... having my hair cut has become addictive, I think!

I know that Trailrunner has an adorable short and sassy cut and hope she'll post pics of her style soon!

i really would love to wear my hair in a cute, short style, but...

i have really curly/frizzy hair-and own a gazillion products-some are better than others, but it seems none REALLY can contain the frizz. i even had the pricey keratin treatment done, and that didn't last very long at all-lessened the curl, but not my frizz! so, 85% of the time, i wear my hair in a ponytail...which i like, but it does get old- esp as i get older!!
i would love to have my hair cut short but i'm not very good with high maintainance cuts and i have a long neck and a long narrow face and short hair just accentuates that! :( plus, when i had my cut short in the past, i had to blow dry every day, or i'd have lots of ringlets... without any products, my hair 'does' a great afro! :(

Busybee....Thank you so much. It does take a little more time to do short hair . Men think women wear their hair short because it's easy, it ain't boys.

Faron....I like the way your girlfriend from Dirty Dancing wears her hair TODAY.

Jane I have dark brown hair and it's shortish. Lots of layers - I have very thick, wavy hair. I can't use hair color as dark as my hair or it goes "hooker black", so with a lighter shade, my gray strands become highlights. I can really do my hair pretty easy because I do it all with my hands. I've got long top layers like you but mine is longer on my neck with shorter layers from about the top of the ears down. Kind of piecy, flippy if that makes sense.

LOL Faron... and I thought women were the ones who reacted to the written word like that ;o)

Newdawn (Jane): Maybe I will just do it...... I know my DH likes longer hair, but that is kinda the best of both worlds :) My hair had been the exact same (plus or minus a few different shades along the way) for many years. I'll show him the pic and see what he thinks!!

Nancy actually my hair is kind of light Brown with dark ashblonde highlights in the front and medium brown at the nape and sides. She uses three colors but it would take water boarding or a Brazilian wax to get her to give up the information.
