Petit Fours Dipping

I have a ton of extra "sample" jars of my homemade jams, a grandson who sells free range eggs, and customers who, like me, do not want corn syrup or artificial anythings. Thought petit fours might just be the next replacement for the "cupcakes galore" fad that has waned here.

Problem - what to dip the petit fours in? I think I want a sturdy "crust" (icing) that won't melt in the hand like butter cream, not as "tough" as white chocolate, not as cloyingly sweet as rolled fondant, and won't crack like royal icing. The purpose of the dipping is to keep the cake moist and to hold in the filling so it won't ooze.

Any suggestions?

Nancy
