I have lots of shrug patterns. And there are many different ones available for free on the web. I think, if you can be a bit more specific in what type/style you are looking for, I could be more helpful. Something snug? Or loose fitting? I purchased some very nice ones, some beaded, some lacy, etc. If you send me an email with "shrug" in the subject line, I will email some of them to you.

Definitely join Ravelry. There are dozens of forums and thousands of patterns and nice people like on KT. I just knitted some fun slippers called Fuzzy Feet, pattern available free on Ravelry. If you have never felted anything, it's really fun. You knit a pair of giant socks in wool that felts. Then you wash them in hot water until they have felted down to the size you want. I wanted to post a picture for you but Photobucket is giving me trouble.

I'm late to the party, so I suppose the original poster will never see this, but... This last picture you provided helps a lot. That is totally a pocketbook slipper, just no strap. You make the triangle at the top (this is for flat-knit version), then increase by doubling all the stitches, then do a 2x2 rib (count up how many rows of dark rib there are and do that many, then switch to the 2nd color and continue) Keep going in a reverse fashion right on up the other side, and halve the stitches at the point where you previously doubled them. When finished knitting, you seam the heel and the toe area, leaving the 2nd side of the triangle open for the foot to slip in. I can't provide exact numbers because you need to measure to make up for th extra height needed to take its place. But follow the main pattern for pocketbook slippers to give yourself an idea of what to do. You could convert it to in the round fairly easily if you prefer.
