Lost my 'favorites'/knitting sites/forums

I switched over to another internet provider and have lost all my "favorites"... I used to have some sites that were knitting forums like this one but were for specific regions of the country like the Northeast, South, etc. etc.

Would anyone have such sites in their favorites? and/or any other knitting forums?

Windows Vista Recovery is a fake computer analysis and optimization program that displays fake information in order to scare you into believing that there is an issue with your computer. Windows Vista Recovery is installed via Trojans that display false error messages and security warnings on the infected computer. These messages will state that there is something wrong with your computer's hard drive and then suggests that you download and install a program that can fix the problem. When you click on of these alerts, Windows Vista Recovery will automatically be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Once installed, Windows Vista Recovery will be configured to start automatically when you login to Windows. Once started, it will display numerous error messages when you attempt to launch programs or delete files. Windows Vista Recovery will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will then find a variety of errors that it states it cannot fix until you purchase the program. When you use the so-called defragment tool it will state that it needs to run in Safe Mode and then show a fake Safe Mode background that pretends to defrag your computer. As this program is a scam do not be scared into purchasing the program when you see its alerts. To further make it seem like your computer is not operating correctly, Windows Vista Recovery will also make it so that certain folders on your computer display no contents. When opening these folders, such as C:\Windows\System32\ or various drive letters, instead of seeing the normal list of files it will instead display a different folder's contents or make it appear as if the folder is empty. This is done to make it seem like there is corruption on your hard drive that is causing your files to not be displayed. You should follow the instructions in the link provided.. Kudzu9 I thought that Internet Explorer was no longer on here, but found that it still was and that my favorites were still on there but were lost to Firefox and had to be recopied. I copied all the stuff that damccoy referred to and that will be the thing that I am trying to do this with. The person who put this on was a programmer that no longer lives here (if that answers the question). As I said, this is not my expertise (which is why I am asking your help), but believe me from experience, if it is possible to mess thiat up, I unintentionally accomplish that. Thanks again, all.. I am afraid that I am used to getting my instructions through a book. Wish I was more proficient, but you can't change the circumstances. Barb

Thanks Linda, but when you are doing the squares, you start with a tail, then start your granny, then finish and leave a tail. My other question is what do you do with the tails so they will not come loose or out of the afghan. I talked to one of the other ladies on here, mamalo3, and she said she sews them with color co-ordinating thread so they dont come loose. I figure that there has to be a better way, I just havent found one. That was her solution, which is a terrific idea, but I just finished an afghan for a baby 176 squares, and that seems like alot of sewing and to be honest with you I sew horrible...the squares were challenging enough for me. Now I saw some really cute ones on this site that is posted, and I am thinking that I just sew horrible, so i can crochet them together, but the tails are still there, and grrrrrrr!!! Thanks Linda for the help and advice, any at this point is well taken and appreciated.Mamalo3 had a great solution for her work, but she must love to sew, :( these old eyes are looking for an easier way....

this is great that everyone is sending you their favorites to help you rebuild your list (you may also get some new ones) but I have a different suggestion. Have you tried searching your computer for your "favorites" file? the file is stored on the computer and is not directly linked to the ISP. Depending on what operating system you are using it may be stored in a different place. First try going to "search" and search for "files or folders" and type "favorites" - it should locate a file stored on your hard drive. For instance, I am using XP and my "favorites" are stored on my hard drive (typically the "C" drive) in my "Documents and Settings" folder under my name - my husband has his own "Documents and Setting" folder and that's where his favorites are. I saved my favorites file as a Word document so I could transfer the list from my old computer to my new and also send the document to work so I have my favorites whereever I am. Give this a try - let me know if you need any other help. By the way, most of my links are for crochet and not knit but if you are interested, I can send you these also.

You might want to check out the Free Knitting Pattern NetRing.
(Hopefully linked below.)
All the sites listed on the NetRing have at least one free knitting pattern, although they are not from any specific region as you wanted.

Thanx everyone for your referrals of web sites for knitting... I have been able to replenish my "favorites" list...... Lots to keep me busy and since I have "rekindled" my interest in knitting from a long time ago... I've got to start on a small scale....
