Wait a minute. Why are you going to Denver? The mere mention of The Ronald McDonald House and hospital suggests a child is in medical need. Let's start there first. I've been to Denver many times but can't get past why you need to go there. Do tell! Then maybe I can help with suggestions.

You will be visiting us during one of the most beautiful months of the year. The weather here is irratic, could be warm or could be cold. So plan on layers for wherever you are heading to.

Will your child go on the trips too? What are you interested in doing? We have it all except for beaches. Downtown has a rail system, but I don't know if it goes near your stay place. Am sure they can tell you. It is inexpensive and "fast".

We will be going to National Jewish Hospital. One of the programs there is a 2-week out-patient treatment for eczema. My son has severe eczema from head to toe and doesn't get better even with strong medications/creams for 3 years now. I heard about this hospital and how great they are with asthma, allergy and eczema. And my son has them all:( I hope this would help us manage his eczema and keep it under control.

Oh my, I sure hope you find relief for him, seems like top notch treatment
worth trying.

I lived in Denver a few years, the Cherry Creek area has a lot of restaurants and shops, that's good for a leisurely stroll, there's a fabulous book store in that area.

Oh! I hope he finds relief. My niece is friends with a family whose kids are totally affected with Eczema, head to toe. I'm going to tell her about this place. I wish your DS the best. Eczema is miserable all by itself. Add allergies and asthma into the mix and one could feel desperate.

Hotel-wise...my DW & DD loved the Loews hotel in Denver when the were there 2 yrs. ago.
(Looooonnngg road-trip they took! Girls' "Va-cay" ya know!)

Check the attached Tripadvisor page to reviews of this place. Rated as 4-star, and many nice reviews. There is one "Medical-stay" related reviewer who had a bad experience, but it doesn't seem typical at all...?

I hope they can help your son. They certainly helped a friend's child with severe asthma many years ago.

DD and I were in Colorado earlier this month visiting colleges. Boulder is really wonderful, and there are buses that go there from Denver. We ate at some good restaurants and they have some fun shopping in a beautiful setting.

I also love Trip Advisor.

And thank you for all the tips/suggestions. I'll definitely check out Trip Advisor. And the Boulder trip sounds good, esp. by bus. My son's probably rode a bus less than 10x, so he will be excited! And since my son loves sports, we'll try to visit a stadium or two, if it's not too far from Denver. Just to take pics outside, not necessarily watching a game.

Cabs in Denver are expensive, I think you will do much better renting a car. We've had great luck using Priceline for car rentals in the past.

We have a great zoo and a wonderful museum of nature and science (very kid focused) right next door to one another in City Park. There is also an aquarium downtown which stays open into the evenings.

The King Tut exhibit will be at the Denver Art Museum while you are here and it is supposed to be fabulous.

If you want to get out of Denver on the weekend, you will find Dinosaur Ridge museum & fossil trails to the West in Morrison.

Boulder is gorgeous and gives you access to countless trails if you would like to hike.

You may experience snow, summer heat, and everything in between. Think layers. Nights and early morning will likely be at least cool even when days are hot. I love our changeable weather but packing for it can be a challenge.

The Denver Broncos stadium is down town. So is Elitchs theme park. The Denver Botanic Gardens are beautiful, down the street from that is The Museum of natural history, which has a HUGE dinosaur display, beautiful minerals and a planatarium with shows every hour..... which is next door to the zoo. The zoo has a bus that tours you around. Denver also has a butterfly Emporium, an ocean world where you can scuba dive in the tank with the displays. Imax theatre, a deal where you can take parachuting lessons in a room with controlled air.

Or.....The Red Rocks amphitheatre is a great area to hike around. It's close to the city. Great place for a picnic lunch. There's a historical building with the cheasy gift shop where a kid could buy some iron pyrite for his rock collection. :0)

Just want to give you guys an update. The doctor sent us home one day early, because my son's skin is so much better, not flared like when we got here in Denver. They are very thorough. Love our doctors! My son had series of skin tests for allergies. Positive on tons of food and environmental allergies. But we did the oral challenge test, and he passed the tests for wheat, rice, shellfish. He failed the soy oral challenge, but he can safely have soy lecithin and soybean oil, which is present in almost all prepared food. I'm so happy that he can have wheat and rice back in his diet!!! And even happier, because I've never seen his skin this good in the past 3-4 years! he can't wait to go back to school on Monday with a better-looking skin:)

We drove around downtown, actually went to Invesco Field today to take pics. Got lost on our way to Pepsi Center. Went to Golden last weekend, went to the zoo (free to NJC patients) and the Museum of Nature and Science (also free to military family). We're planning to go to Garden of the Gods tomorrow, as our flight is not until 8pm.

Golddust, tell your niece's friend that National Jewish Center is so awesome I highly recommend it! I wish I knew of this place before, my son didn't need to suffer phisically, emotionally and socially.
