Hello all. Cincinnati, Ohio calling out for help. Like Rusi P, I have the same problem and have the Beckett R7184B as well. So I opened the window and found one of the spark ignitor wires off and had grounded and signs of an old spark-burnt area in the box. So I thought, well heck that’s an easy fix. pulled the tip out since I was in there and cleaned it all up. Put it all back together including the disconnected wire which I clamped a little tighter to stay. Well it’s still doing the cycle for awhile then into recycle mode....then the pump kicks on a minute or so later. No flame this time and then shuts off into lockout. With all that said, questions....did the short take out my primary ( but it appears to be acting somewhat reasonable with the proper reset functions- meaning if it got cooked I would assume it would not even reset correctly) . Or could all this be a bad thermistor? Please help

In such a situation, restarting after refilling the oil supply might require some tools and expertise, especially with a one-line oil supply. Delivery drivers often can and will do this.

Wow, well how old is your A/C? A heatpump isn't much more than a regular A/C in cost. They make heat for much cheaper than oil. What is your climate like? Are you in extreme cold weather zone like minnesota? Is your house leaky/drafty? Do you know how much your electricity costs? Heatpumps work really well above 30 degrees. They still can keep your house warm at lower temperatures too but it isn't as comfy. They don't work as well if your house is drafty (old 50's windows and no attic insulation). If your A/C is old you should replace with a heatpump because it doesn't cost much over the regular a/c.

To address the possible root cause of improper air supply, today I removed the pipe from the furnace to the chimney to see if there was any blockage. There was a small pile of soot on the back of the furnace and on the entrance to the chimney. I don't think enough to cause the safety to trip. In the chimney however there was a lot of soot at the base of the chimney. I took out about a foot of soot in the bottom and there could be more but the hose on my little shop vac wouldn't reach further. I'm assuming that is not supposed to be there, is that correct? Could this building soot create an improper draft that would pop the safety reset? As for the motor, you are right, there is only one that matches the specs of the one I currently have - Grainger Item # 4MA12.
