At the moment, rich. I'm so over living paycheque to paycheque and not being able to buy a newer vehicle or travel. Or having to worry about buying a new pair of pants because the money could be better spend on milk and bread. Nobody needs to be pretty anymore. There's makeup for that..... and as for wise, if you don't know, look it up. We can all feel smart when we look things up before we open our mouths.

I'm not a big 'money' person, but given a choice of rich, pretty/attractive, or wise, I'd just as soon be rich.

My answer would most likely be different if that list had included happy. Given a choice between poor and happy and rich and unhappy, I'd choose poor and happy.

Wise, definitely. I don't care about looks, never have. Rich is still finite. But wise? If you've got brains, you can achieve success--financially and every other way, and sustain that success. Brains are always the best way to go.

My heart says wise, but my head says RICH! I'd love to be able to help people. Wouldn't it be fun to alleviate someone's worries/stresses???

LOL at Minnie. I'd choose wise, and that was a fast decision--pretty much a no-brainer. Wise and I could be such a help to anyone that asks my opinion. Absolutely!! Wise. I realize wise, and intelligent are not the same thing.

So if I chose WISE, how HOMELY would I have to be?

wise! everyone only has a certain capacity for understanding and knowledge. it has nothing at all to do with the ability to look something up, if right now you can speak to me for an hour on Continuum mechanics you have a vast capacity for knowledge, if you can't then looking it up isn't going to help you. your capacity for knowledge is in direct proportion to your wealth, if you are driven or fairly motivated. money could buy you schooling but w/o being wise and having capacity you are limited. this is why certain degrees pay nearly 6 figures right away(even now) and others will keep you at the poverty level. also just getting money, unless it is constant unlimited supply doesn't go nearly as far over time as we think LOL. ~ liz

Of the three I would choose to be rich. I'm getting too old to be concerned with good looks and I don't think being wise will always make your life much better. Really I'd just like to have a amazing skill... like being a fantastic artist or being able to write really, really well.

I had a co-worker who easily qualified for Mensa, the high I.Q. group. She was surprised how many members were socially illiterate & actually had very mundane jobs. Being able to expound on a subject often---maybe usually--- doesn't translate into great wealth. Always remember that there are many Ph.Ds currently standing in unemployment lines even as we speak.

RICH. For wisdom I could look on the internet or call Dr Phil to answer questions. I could also consult with my pastor, medical doctor, banker, and lawyer for more wisdom.

AMEN kfca37!! In these uncertain times with the economy as it is you can find all of these in unemployment lines wise, pretty and attractive and even highly skilled. The one that you won't find is the one that has vast wealth. None of that however equates to certain happiness LOL

I grew up lacking expensive tastes.

Having helped folks who'd left their former life, including job, home and possessions due to international diplomacy, in which their country had absolutely no say, so now possessed just the clothes in which they stood up, I can testify that "rich" often is temporary.

And we in the Western world had better start getting used to being less rich, for our middle class is in the process of being hollowed out.

Wise - it's the only option of any substance or real value in my opinion. The other two are very superficial and wisdom is more likely to lead to happiness and fulfillment as far as I'm concerned.

I agree completely with gibby 3000. My choice is also wise. Beauty fades. Sudden riches are usually squandered and certainly don't buy happiness. Wisdom will expand your horizons more than beauty or money ever could.

Why... because I'm already wise enough to know that money doesn't matter.

But, if it does here's some food for thought... higher intelligence isn't necessarily related to higher pay. When all is said and done, the taller man will probably still get paid more. If nothing else, beautiful people are more secure in life and more confident.

Plus, higher intelligence is often related to higher rates of depression. Many, if not most, highly intelligent people are cynical and more likely to be depressed. Ignorance is kind of bliss.

I think most people will agree that a nice balance of all three may be best. Personally, I would give up a few IQ points to retain some of my youthful beauty and health! Real beauty and attractiveness is a kind of look that I don't think necessarily can be bought. And, don't fool yourself; you can be old and attractive too.

I think it's significant to realize that wisdom and intelligence are NOT the same thing.

Kind of depends on how you are defining them... I think they are more similar than you may realize. Actually, if you try to define them I think you'll find they circle back into each other. Real wisdom is based on intelligence and real intelligence is based on wisdom.

If you are defining them by education level (book learning) or age, then, yes, they are different... but I personally wouldn't define them that way. The group of people that tend to suffer deression at a higher level are not simply better educated or even older, more experienced people ... but they are more innately intelligent or "wise". More aware of things in life...whatever you want to call that.

I was just going to post the same thing, Vannie. Wisdom does not mean intelligence. I know many very intelligent folks, tho I would not describe them as wise.

That said, I work for some extremely wealthy folks....I would much rather be wealthy.

I'd love to be rich, rich, rich but would I be truly happy? I don't know. Honestly after thinking about it -

I'd rather be wise.

Being wise would it also not include having inner peace because I would see things differently than I do now? Money doesn't buy happiness.
