LOL, Alexa, you got the title wrong, it's "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives". I saw it once where a man called Guy Fiera "Dinner Diner Boy", and now that's what i call it.

I sure would like his job, he's been all over the place. He's been in a bunch of places here in Michigan, at Joe's Gizzard City, at Blimpie's in Ann Arbor and Rosie's Diner just about 40 miles from me, Lpinkmountain and I ate there.

Yup, I want his job.

He just came on here and one place he's going to be at in this episode is the Steer-In in Indianapolis. DH and I grew up in Indianapolis (didn't know each other then) and remember going there during our teens. It's a combo Drive In and, well, I guess a Diner.

I just love that show! There is a great web site for all his "location". We always try and seek out a couple on our road trips. No disappointments yet!

LOL on the name, I don't watch the show.

However, the Pineville Tavern is a great place to go. I found it interesting that they highlighted the Snapper Soup (blech!) and the ravioli (meh) since I think there are much better items on the menu.

Anyway, they mentioned the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls (which are KILLER!) and the Bawlmer Crab Cakes which are really popular around here (I get them WITHOUT that nasty Old Bay) and the recipe is on Food Network. In the summer they also have the best heirloom tomato and blue cheese salad I have ever had - something about the perfect tomatoes from the farm next door and the homemade dressing I think.....

It is still a great place to stop and the kids like it too....

While I was in the States for my Mom's funeral, I got to see this show. I really enjoyed it and the food looked wonderful. My Dad always taught us to look for "dives" in new cities. He said that is mostly where you find the best food.
I didn't like his cooking show, though. Watching him cook with those expensive shirts, gold rings and huge watch just gagged me. I guess I have been in the restaurant business for too long.

I love that show, but it is killer to watch at night. I get so hungry! But seriously, between that and "man vs. food", I worry about the health of the hosts. Both look (and eat) like heart attacks in the making.

I would like Guy's job for a day. I pick the dive.

Guy Fieri also did a show on The Fly Trap, a diner in Ferndale, Michigan.
The food there was actually good and innovative.
And, while we were feeling lucky, we tried a dive in the South, which Fieri praised. That one lived up to its disreputable name, in every sense of the word.

Someday, when the stars align, I will meet Guy Fieri. And when I do, I'm going to run my fingers through his bleachy, spiky hair, yank his shades off the back of his head, and put'em back on his face, just because.

elery and I went to Joe's Gizzard City on our "honeymoon". It was pretty good, actually, the gizzards were delicious althoug the deep fried Nutter Butter Cookies were just a bit odd. That place will deep fry anything, I swear. Oh, and Lpink and I went to Rosie's, their cobblestone bread is impressive and their shakes are enormous. We had breakfast so I didn't try the pie. And the Blimpy Burger is good AND entertaining, so he hit pretty well on all four of the Michigan "dives".
