There is nothing on TV, I don't know why I am paying for cable.

It's really annoying. I only watch a couple shows and one is "Revenge". They will have a new show once in a while but then they'll have several reruns in a row...like last week. Now I hear they aren't going to have a new show until next week! It used to not be like that, in the good ole days. LOL! New show every week until the beginning of Summer when the reruns would start until the Fall. Are people getting lazier, including people who make these shows? That's what it sounds like. I know some people will get tired of it and just quit watching altogether and then the network will wonder why the show didn't get good ratings and they'll have to cancel it.

Ringer is back tonight, Justified is on also. Love both of these shows.

I caught on to this tactic of theirs years ago when LA Law was on. Even though they used to have some sort of running thread from show to show...mainly to keep us tuning in, they would run 1-2-3 new episodes, then sneak a re-run in a time or two. Finally I just lost interest and ruined my interest of getting interested in other TV dramas, except Law And Order. Maybe that is why I watch so much Reality TV. I know they will run the 6 - 8 weeks season, then its done. To me, I think they are hiring Idiots to be the head honchos and make these decisions.

I kind of like that there's nothing on during the holidays because I don't have time to watch, but I hate that they hold off until February to start up again. I guess programmers figure that it's better not to compete with all of the awards shows and football championship games, but that's no fun for those of us who don't watch that type of program.

I wonder if it isn't 'all about money' or the bottom line. When some super-stars get xxxmillion $$$ per episode, maybe they have to find ways to keep you interested and stay within their budget. I mostly gave up on all tv until I got caught up watching NCIS and NCISLA and it IS frustrating to have them preempted and moved around so often....but I love that cast so I watch reruns and follow them all over the place.

That's why I like Survivor and Amazing Race because once they're on, no reruns. It's getting ridiculous. In MY day shows ran every week from Sept to May and then summer was hiatus filled in by new summer shows, I only had three channels but there was more on those three than the gazillion I now have.

The sweeps week (couple o' weeks??) is in early Feb. as I recall, during which they show their best stuff. The last few years it seems they show mostly reruns up to that time, then continue with the rest of the series.

Money and advertising. Many companies are getting short, and people "mute" advertising (me) and since I don't have TV on day time, hate reality shows, so?? I watch things like History channel, Public TV, Food channel (sometimes) OR just play hidden object games, and work on my hobbies.
Besides most of the actors/actresses aren't much good anyway. (like the olden days)

One shining exception is "The Good Wife," which showed what was probably its best episode ever last week. But otherwise, I agree in wishing that the news shows started right after the holidays.

I don't watch a lot of shows but I do like Fringe, and for some reason there were no new episodes from the middle of November until last week. Have no idea why.

This is why I love the internet. I can watch what I want when I want. I am still trying to get it through my DH's skull that we don't need to be spending mucho bucks for cable. He'll watch any rerun or old movie or garbage that's on because he's just watching for the zombie factor. Well, he can zone out without paying for cable! Aaaarrgghh!

Not only that but have you noticed that a TV channel repeats the same shows every 3 or 4 hours.

Drewsmaga, that's what we do, watch TV on the internet for free.

I find I'm a lot pickier regarding the shows that I watch now, as there is more to choose from now that we watch on the internet. We used to watch whatever the networks showed...just like zombies, as you said. ;)

I guess it depends on what you're watching. All my shows were reruns until a few weeks ago... now there are new episodes of Glee, Parks and Rec, The Office and other sitcoms I watch. Like Lily I am also watching some reality TV... The Bachelor and American Idol just started and The Apprentice starts the 12th... no reruns and the reality shows never get cancelled after a few episodes!

With the content and language of the newer shows and those coming up I'm glad there are reruns.

I like the programs on Discovery Dual Survivor Survivor Man Man vs Wild - Man, Woman wild. I like the Americn Pickers and Storage wars . Then I like to watch theold Murder She Wrote on TV Land to see the old stars. NCIS is one of my favorites (not the LA) and the Closer I like some of the Lifetime movies too. and cruise around the stations

This is when I start digging a little deeper into some of the cable stations. I watched some show about families in Alaska and loved it. The guys had unusual names like Atz and Etienne. It was sort of a reality show in that is really followed these families. I also have found some great shows on the Smithsonian channel. But I agree that all the reruns are enough to make you unplug the damn tv.

Downton Abbey has been a saving grace.

Tonight I watched the first episode of Luck, a new series on HBO about horse racing, with Dustin Hoffman. It was good. I also saw the first episode of a new show called Smash and it looks hopeful. It's described as Glee for grownups. We'll see.

I have noticed a lot of reruns too. Also, when I look at the calendar (on TVrage) for the end of Feb and March there is almost nothing scheduled. I posted about it in their forum to see what people think.

Honestly, I never remember this happening in Spring except for the writer's strike. Normally Spring is the second big take-off for new shows -- almost as much going on as Fall.

It seems like a waste of expensive air-time to play reruns during prime-time hours. Maybe the advertisers are cutting their funding???

For example: The new show Smash is only scheduled for 3 airings in Feb, nothing for March.

mentalist and grays were both new tonight...but i also watched earlier a couple of movies i've watched several times...(the losers and push) crazy thing? jane eyre (latest) was on at 8 this am??
