Can I float over old floor? Help!

Hi,

I need advice on what to do here. I have purchased new engineered hardwoods that I would like to float. I have a cement foundation.

I was planning to tear out the existing glued down floor, tile and carpet. Then I was going to float the new stuff directly on the cement.

This will require a ton of labor since its not coming up easily. Can I just float the new hardwoods over my old floor? The old floor is in good condition, we just dont like it! Its pretty level I believe.

I plan to lay down plywood where the carpet currently is, so it will be level with the other surfaces.
