new style-what do you think

latest style in womens pants-saw these in Marshalls a couple of weks ago. They are called crossover trousers. first thing came to mind was the mens pants in the Shakespere costumes. What do you think? You know that is what they look like and held up with belts or rope like cords, before the invention of buttons or zippers.

Oh my, I can't think of anything less flattering to more women! Even for someone with abs of steel, it's not great. But for anyone with ANY tummy...ack.

If it pleases you, it's what you should do. The important thing is to feed your enthusiasm. If you like working with mulberry, start some (dormant) cuttings. The tree is very vigorous & you'll have material you can work on in no time if you put them in the ground. FWIW - you don't often see jins on deciduous material; and I realize it's just a picture, but for future reference the jinned top should be either taller or shorter than the live apex. The picture confuses the eye. You can't be sure if you should be looking at the jin or the living part as the compositions apex. BTW - I meant to mention you can treat your tree for the leaf spot with over-counter fungicides that have Tebuconazole. It's systemic and works very well - I've been using it for quite a while & have not yet found anything sensitive to it. I think this is one of those cases where I need to make myself look at your tree through YOUR eyes. My vision of how to turn your tree into a literati involves allowing it to grow long (temporarily) & keeping all the branches pruned off the bottom so very little taper develops and waiting until the bark develops some character. I would also put movement into the trunk & remove some bark in strategic places to add character. At some point, after the bark develops, I would chop the tree high on a long trunk & utilize the few branches I had developed after deciding their placement enhanced the composition. Looking through your eyes, I need to see that your goal isn't a tree that is all it can be several years from now ..... you want a tree you can put in a pot and be proud of now. Both goals are perfectly fine, the paths are just different. Bonsai is about fun and your own personal satisfaction, so it doesn't matter what I say or think, as long as you're getting what you need from the experience. ;o) Keep us posted. Al

Technology is opening some new doors. We can get backsplashes now that are customized with glass molded to order, or pictures we supply. This could explode into a whole new genre of customized surfaces. Kitchens today are surprisingly uniform - cherry/ss/granite/tumbled stone. It's time for a lot more uniqueness. First only the rich will do it, because it isn't very easy to sell a house with a backsplash of tiles that have your grandkids faces. It's going to take time to work out the possibilities, but I think it will spread. Kitchens will get a lot more interesting in personal ways, which will help offset the environmental and economic changes that are coming. Peak oil is going to make shipping granite and exotic timber really expensive sooner than we think. Counters from recycled glass or paper (Richlite) will become a requirement for the thinking and caring homeowner. True linoleum will look smart, wood will look wasteful. In the suburbs, we'll all need bigger pantries because we won't be able to afford to drive to the grocery store very often. We'll all be discussing ways to replace xenon/halogen/incandescent with LEDs and fluorescent. Sinks will evolve to accommodate water shortages and our big old farm sinks will look wasteful. The boomers are starting to downsize into smaller urban dwellings. Right now my KD friend at Lowe's tells me that the big lavish kitchens with lots of fancy woodwork are in the many suburban 'starter castles' that have sprung up recently. The focus is going to change to what urban Lowe's sell - smaller, more contemporary or sleek kitchens, or smaller kitchens that match the urban house's style - which is seldom French Provincial Grande, around here at least.

Wow, looks cool. We have a 1928 tudor (English Cottage Revival). That round hoop light fixture gave me bad dejevu, our house had one of those 50's ranch style lights in the kitchen, ack! You might want to bring back some of the period lighting: www.rejuvenation.com The leaded windows are gorgeous.

Hi. I found this one on dianesdesserts.com. I havent tried it yet, but it looks good. Diana's Desserts - Recipe in category Cheesecakes Toblerone Cheesecake Ingredients: 1 cup plain chocolate biscuits (chocolate wafer cookies), crushed 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted 500 grams (two 8 oz. packages) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup thickened cream, or heavy cream 200g (approximately 8 ounces) Toblerone chocolate (milk or dark chocolate), melted Garnish: Extra Toblerone chocolate (milk or dark chocolate), grated Confectioners' sugar Instructions: Melt the 1/3 cup of butter. Crush chocolate biscuits into crumbs. Mix together the chocolate biscuit crumbs and melted butter. Press mixture into bottom of lightly greased 23cm (9-inch) springform pan. Place in refrigerator to chill. Beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer for 2 minutes or until smooth. Place the chocolate in a small saucepan or in the top of a double boiler on low heat (water in bottom of double boiler should be at a slow simmer) and melt the 200g (approximately 8 ounces) of toblerone, stirring constantly. Add the sugar, melted toblerone, and heavy cream to cream cheese and continue beating until thoroughly combined and very smooth. Remove cheesecake base from refrigerator and spoon mixture into base. Smooth top of cake with a metal spatula. Refrigerate (in pan) for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before seving, remove cheesecake from refrigerator and release sides of springform pan. Place cheesecake on serving platter and garnish with the extra grated Toblerone chocolate and dust top with confectioners' sugar (optional). Tip: The longer you leave the cheesecake in the refrigerator, the firmer it will be; 12 hours or overnight is best. Makes 8-10 servings. yeh, running in place-my other thoughts exactly. When I was looking at them in marshalls there were 2 other women there when I said they looked like the mens in Shakespere times, we all had a big laugh. I just found this posted on another forum-the Youlookfab.com one. Some on there seem to wear anything that is the latest style no matter what it looks like.

They look like those pants (harem, maybe?) which make the wearer look as tho' she's walking around with a (ahem)..."load" in her pants, only this one is in the front...oh, after she shrank them in the dryer.

I think the first time I saw that style was on Project Runway when one of the designers was trying to cover a mistake!

Lord, I sincerely hope that's not a new style. I can't imagine what the buyers were thinking when they ordered those. I think they'll end up on the clearance rack before too long.

Well, I guess designers always have to come up with something new but IMO that is not a winner! While I like unusual fashions I could never wear anything so unflattering.

I can't think of anyone in this world those would look good on. While I'd welcome a style change from shinny jeans/hip huggers/seeing butt cracks ... these are not it!

I think I had some pants like that in about 1983. They haven;'t improved with age.
