Googling for ~ cjrosaphile "posted by" site:gardenweb.com ~ gives me about 90 ghits. With a gardenweb search I get only 9. I asked a similar (Not the same question, a related question.) question here a few months ago. It lingered for a couple of weeks and was removed. Then I went over to computer help and asked the same question and got a "duh" type answer. Google is really much faster than the search here ever was. In both cases, i.e. Google and the search here, the order in which hits are displayed is somewhat obscure but you can tweak Google e.g. add "roses" to the above search and I get 87 ghits, then add "-climbing" and I get 72 ghits. Furthermore the tweaked searches are almost instantaneous if added to the first search rather than starting over with a new search. A Google search will not immediately show a result. What I am typing now won't show up for a couple of days, occasionally longer, but then to my knowledge a gardenweb search, even when it was working, as it were, didn't show results immediately either. Briefly, go to Google and click on advanced search, go down to domain and put in gardenweb.com, then put other search terms in the word or pharase boxes and enter. Tweak the searches by adding or removing words or phrases at the top of the first result page only starting over when it gets to complicated to manage.

Just as with any search engine the more specific your search term the more relevant the results. Imagine what all you would get if you search "pears" on Google or Bing. ;-) So you have to be more specific in your search terms. Yes "pears" will pull up all sorts of posts from all over the site. It tells you everything you wanted to know - or didn't want to know - about "pears" or any post pears were even discussed in regardless of title. But search terms like "canning pears", "preserving pears", "pear jam recipes', etc. - things relevant to the focus of the particular forum you are using - gets you Harvest forum posts. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/harvest/query/preserving-pears/nqrw Dave

You have to put the word followed by the forum name, for example, “Cleome in Roses”. The best way to do this is to open the forum then search in the top bar. The system will auto suggest the forum you are on. I attached an image hope it helps.
