Radiant Heat below grade question

We have radiant heated floors in our basement. 600 sf is done in tile and 500 sf has carpet. We want to replace the carpet and put hardwood floors in. We seem to be running into trouble selecting a type of flooring. Ideally we would like solid maple. We were told we couldn't have a solid wood below grade over radiant heat set in concrete, we need to do engineered. So we picked out an engineered brazillian pecan. We were just informed we can't have that either. Does anyone know what type of wood floor we can have? I would like to stay away from the laminates due to the "hollow" sound most if not all laminates make when walking on them. We would like very much to have a lighter wood color, maple preferred if possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
