Just because someone enjoys a drink doesn't make them an alcoholic, but alcoholism is complex. Not all alcoholics hide their drinking, some, like my ex, just don't care. His job wasn't impacted because he owned the business. He didn't drive around, so he didn't get arrested. I took care of the kids so that wasn't an issue. He bought a shirt that said "I'm not an alcoholic, alcoholics attend meetings. I'm a drunk." My ex still drinks every day but now he owns a health food store, so he will "sneak" a drink or two in the afternoon, and then he drinks all evening. My Mother drinks a glass of red wine in the evening and it takes her about 3 hours to drink it. She doesn't NEED it and doesn't get annoyed if she doesn't have it, but she likes it and there's always a bottle of Paul Newman wine in her house because she's an 83 year old fan-girl, LOL. My Dad said nothing tasted better than a cold beer when it was really hot outside. My son in law goes out for a drink with the guys after work once a week but never drinks at home. There are different "types" of drinkers just as there are different types of alcoholics. It's something about all people being different. I don't think that Sooz was being particularly insulting or judgmental, just that she thought the excitement was a little over done. Since the Food Network is made up of people who aren't actors, I'm guessing that they are told to convey a certain "persona" and some of them just aren't very good at it. I've always thought that "reality television" isn't real and it's just a way to entertain us without having to hire real actors. What else could explain the Kardashians, Honey BooBoo or Duck Dynasty? How will you know where to put the Ethernet jacks? The advantage of wi-fi is that networked devices can be used anywhere. And phones, tablets, e-readers and many other devices are never wired. Are you planning to put a (desktop) computer in each room? If you routed coax, do you know where you'd put a cable box or TV in each room? I would plan for a space where cable TV or fiber-optic cable would enter the house and where I could put all my network equipment (modem, router, etc.). I have a plywood patch panel in a closet something like this on which I've hung all my networking equipment. Be sure there are outlets nearby. And put lots of outlets around the house too. -- amateur (uses Sonos and only wi-fi including for TV)

I remember hearing about this scandal when it hit international news in early 2022 but just today ran across more in-depth information on it from references within coverage of C&JG's media appearances in April 2022 as they try to promote their new network. This scandal and the way it was handled seems to me caused by the dilemma of the new network's needing content so desperately that the content creation process and those contracted to do it were not adequately supervised. Once the scandal became public, MN's response was inadequate to stem the public outrage. The HW series was temporarily suspended, then re-instated, and now apparently canceled as no more seasons seem to be forthcoming. However, the issues at the heart of the scandal seem to have never been fully addressed, at least to the public's ability to verify, and the full season one of HW plus a holiday special remain in the online listings at MN. It is a shame that perhaps the most widely publicized news item of the network's launch has been this scandal, and in the aftermath, how inadequately it seems to have been resolved. MN would do well, in my opinion, to really sit down with the receipts and compensate the victims adequately based on initial promises made, then remove HW from all of its platforms to distance itself from this reputation spoiler. A good name is more to be desired than any other profit supposedly preserved by both leaving victims floundering as well as continuing to associate with the designers who created this problem. The designers' being allowed to publicly re-victimize the victims with accusations (many which twist the facts) and excuses while MN has stood silent or even supported the designers with further excuses is also unacceptable, in my opinion. I would like to see MN come clean about the facts involved, something that would be nice but which, based on MN's history, I do not expect. Fans of the network may feel this is insignificant, but to the general public, the HW scandal seems to have become the face of the launch and tarnished the goodwill that C&JG worked so hard to build.

Restarting the router corrected the problem. The laptop is now detecting my networks and continues detecting the neighbor's networks. Restarting the computer had already been tried unsuccessfully. Thanks.
