Docusate sodium....which maybe the generic for colace. And if he starts hurting more on the 3rd day...that indicates he has infection somewhere and get him back to the surgeon. He should feel better each day...unless he does something dumb like chew a wad of bubble gum. Oh and give him the minimum dosage of the stuff...I took it when I was doing chemo, and they initially prescribed too large a dose....and it comes in capsules, so you can't take half....but if you get the smallest dosage, you CAN take 2 if needed.

:) Well, we don't do 'weight' pulling per se, but Capone does pull me on my rollerblades. He's got a light duty harness for it, and absolutely spazzes when I bring it out. It usually takes him 5-10 minutes to settle down enough that he can sit for me to put in on him - and even then, he lifts his left paw and ducks his head to help. He has really benefited from having a job. He knows the difference between playtime and 'OK, go to work!' I weigh about 120# - we wouldn't have him pull something stationary that is that heavy, but me being on rollerblades makes all the difference. He picked up quickly with this exercise, he now pulls 'low and slow' and keeps no slack on the leash. The only thing that took him a day or two to adjust to was the noise following him so closely. But he adjusted well. Now it doesn't matter if he's pulling an empty kid's wagon or me on rollerblades, when you tell him to 'go to work' his head goes down, the ears come back, and the manner in which he pulls to keep the slack out of the leash makes it look like he's pulling a Mack truck! So, yes - I definitely recommend it. We never had any problems with him wanting to pull with anything else - only his harness. So it has worked out well for us. Definitely sap. Strange that it's so white. I've cut these before and never experienced sap coming from the wound. I pulled off another chunk to check for water solubility (I was wondering if it could be from extrafloral nectary glands). It softened up a little in hot water and became sticky but also slick. When I went back to look at the opuntia again a few minutes later, I noticed that a new tiny spot had appeared where I'd pulled away the chunk. I used a toothpick to poke a wound near it and another on a green pad. I saw some oozing almost immediately. The upper right spot is where the chunk came from. The lower left is where I stabbed it. Photos elapsed by 20 minutes. I can only figure that contraction and expansion in the corky material around watering may have caused small fissures. I do let this guy dry out pretty severely before watering since the pot doesn't have drainage.

Orthodontist pulled my four 'corners' in the old, dark days when they did that sort of thing. (Consequence being teeth tilting as I age.) I also have three of my four wisdom teeth. (Fourth never came through and is not visible on X-ray.) Then there are the gold inlays, onlays, etc. I've been a 'gold mine' for dentists over my almost-75 years, but I can still *chew*. I see two 'brands' mentioned here: Crest and Plus White. May I presume to ask further free advice about what to try?
