Keep in mind that there are two variants of white smoke. One of them being steam - it being fairly easy to detect as it dissipates into the air rather quickly. As opposed to the white/slightly blueish smoke which will sort of drift away with the wind. A few of the engines I have will cough up a bit of white/blue smoke on start up. But does not last, I see no oil loss, and I detect no foul smelling fumes... I would say keep your eyes on the situation - if your not burning any significant amounts of oil then your in good shape. Remember - some oil is creeping past the valve guides and the rings is a normal thing - and this will be seen on the next startup - especially if the motor has sat a few days. I can also say that on one of my machines - I was able to detect that it smoked more when I parked it facing downhill. I guess the bulk of the oil settled in a certain location.

These vary in flowering behavior, same as other shrubs. If the foliage remains good-looking all summer lack of water probably not the problem. Maybe future results will be better. Propagations of 'Royal Purple' I've bought and planted have seemed to lack vigor, wanted to be watered. Otherwise Smoke Bush should grow well here without coddling - as long as exposure is sunny, soil is well-drained and not infested with Verticillium. Noted making up part of the continental climate scrub growing near the Great Wall, along with peach trees and lilacs. Perhaps the most impressive specimens I've seen have been in eastern WA.

I have been a lurker here forever...never posted. I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I smoke for over 20 years about 2 1/2packs a day. I quit 5 years ago. I had tried to quit several times but always went back. I quit by picking a date.I told myself that it was going to be hard but every day would be easier. I also read that when you quit smoking your body is over the withdraw from nicotine 48-72 hours after you last smoke. I told myself the first 3 days would be the hardest and after the 3 days it is all a mind game. I really believe that is what help me stop smoking is knowing that my body did not need the nicotine, that it was my mind. i did take a mini vaction from work, some people say they get very tired from not smoking.... The first 6 months are hard....you will give yourself every excuse to smoke again...it has been 5 years and once in great while i will still get the urge to smoke...I know I cannot smoke or even try to smoke...because I will be right back where I was. welcome to the forums dave.. if you are going to hang around.. add your location on your member's page ... and if you dont think that is important.. i cant really tell you when its going to resprout .... e.g compare sara's z9 to my z5MI .... anyway ... i am pretty sure you could run this over with a cement truck and not kill it.. so stop worrying about that ... and with no insult to the root mass ... i would expect it to be back to the size you cut down.. in a year or 3... depending on location ... you might want to think about removal.. next time it tries to take over the yard ...unlike children.. you dont have to keep problem plants ... lol... unfortunately.. i dont remember if they bloom on new or old wood.. someone else will have to tell us if it will bloom this year .... so.. at worse.. you lose this years bloom ... ken
