Recheck the FAQ's on the wintersowing forum. Not to late to WS the seeds you've listed. As a matter of fact I'm in zone 5 and the seeds you've listed, I'm going to be sowing this week and next. As long as your containers are at least 3 inches deep, though deeper would be better, you can use any recyle type container as well as platic cups and styrofoam cups as well. They will hold up fine and you can use them again next year as well. Fran

I brokeup the old slab from a long ago garage to use as blocks for building 'stone' edging in my back yard. The walls are between 2 and 3 'chunks' tall-- about 12 to 15 inches. the bottom course is barely visible. Where i've run into stabilty problems a bit of our heavy clay soil usually works to level things. If that doesn't solve the problem I usually toss in a bit of mortar when i remember. After 10 years with dirt, moss and algae, and plants growing they look like field stone walls that are dry laid. You need to be careful to use old slabs with out rebar and try to get slabs of even thickness. 2 years ago my neighbors had thir drive re done and I asked for some slabs. The contracter was only too happy to give me 6 slabs about 6'x6'. This stuff was about 8"thick and a major pain to break-up with a 16# sledge hammer, but in due time I broke it up and built a raised bed along my drive (24'x 8'x 30 inches) It turned out a bit bigger than I had imagined but holds about 12 cubic yards of topsoil and about 2000 daffodil bulbs. Now I'm planning to fill it up with other yellow plants. I'm hopping trailing plants from the top and edging plants will help disguise the concrete until it gets some aging. All I know is that it was a lot cheaper than the building blocks/stone I could buy. diggerb

When the mail lady says " you must be slacking, no bubble envie today" when you are stopping at all the stores just to make sure you havent "missed anything".. when you pull out a coat you havent worn since last season, and lo and behold, there are seeds in the pocket. When your kids have friends over, and they ask you if you are going to put the seed mess away... When the container you were using to store seeds becomes 5 or 6 containers..Ok, ok...maybe 7 ( LOL) When a seed catalog comes in the mail, and your highlighter runs out of ink.

Starting to feel a little overwhelmed. I have a shower for my daughter coming up May 6th and then the wedding 5 weeks later. My daughter who is away at college is suffering from an impacted tooth and is scheduled to have her wisdom teeth removed next Thursday. This will be where she is going to school which is 2 hours from here. I should be there with her but I can't get the day off at our little gift shop. Not enough people for coverage and it is a plant delivery day. My son is having some enemia issues and is 18. Now he needs an MRI on some lower abdominal swelling and then will have to see a GI doctor. My second son (have 5 kids) just got a job in Dallas, Texas and he and his wife will be moving there as soon as there house sells in South Carolina. The darn wet and cold weather isn't helping either. I have a plant swap I have to get done. The old "when it rains, it pours". I have enjoyed this swap immensely.
