I don't have this steam mop, I have a canister steamer. At $179, the Oreck is more expensive than the Shark and Haan steam mops, but it has certain advantages. It has a 1 liter tank, which is roughly 3 times larger than the Haan 11 oz. tank. The Shark may have an even smaller tank - I'm not sure. The Oreck has alligator clips on the top of the mop head, which means that you don't have to invest in proprietary cleaning cloths. This is a huge advantage; you could use cut up sections of towels or buy a package of microfiber cloths in the auto section of Walmart and steam all day with the Oreck. The Oreck seems more versatile; you can use it without the mop head. What the Oreck and all the other steam mops lack is high temperature steam. They heat to 212 degrees. The good Italian canister steamers, which cost hundreds of dollars more, heat to over 300 degrees. All steamers lose heat between the tank and where the steam comes out. The expensive canister models lose some 30 degrees, with the steam at the cleaning tip around 260-270 degrees. The steam mops don't tell you what the temperature at the tip is.

You have to understand Oreck. Besides making their liteweight upright and handheld compact, they either purchase vacuum cleaner companies for their model(s), purchase old vacuums or have the vacuum cleaners made for them. So you cannot judge one model by another Oreck. "Lindie mi's" vacuums and the Quest Pro are not made by the same company-Oreck. The Quest Pro has just recently been introduced. The Chinese company which makes this vacuum cleaner also make some similar vacuum cleaners under at least two "American" names. It is a very good vacuum cleaner, which uses a good power nozzle. This vacuum should be very easy to use and filters very well. If you are accustomed to using an upright, it may take you some time to get acquainted with the Quest Pro. For your situation, the canister is perfect. You will be able to vacuum everything. Pushing an upright is not the same as pushing a wand with a floor brush at the end. I would suggest that since canister use is new to you, take a quick look behind you, when you pull the canister. Some users have the tendency of pulling canisters into walls and furniture. I do not have this problem, because I look, when I pull the canister around a corner. If you have any questions, just post them here.

I have the shark steam pocket mop with two heads. I also have the Shark ultra steam blaster canister. I also have the shark portable steam pocket. I love them all and use them all depending on what I am doing at the time. My canister one I use when I am cleaning all my wood floors and kitchen and bathroom floors. If i just want to touch up my kitchen and bathroom I use the steam mop. If i am doing windows and mirrors and showers and toilets and walls I use the portable. I also use the portable when I am steaming our mattresses and boxsprings. This way is so much easier and faster. I recommend any of them highly. Janet
