Mom's birthday tomorrow

My mom would have been 52 tomorrow. I have no idea at this point how I will react.

Mom was never "big" on birthdays. I always sent a gift and would call, and sometimes come home if it fell on a weekend, but she never wanted me to come home from school--she said I should be at the library instead!

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Your mom died too young, and I know you miss her terribly. Keep the good memories close in your heart tomorrow. My mom has been gone over 2 years, and I was lucky to have her much longer than you did, but I still ache every day over the loss.

She did die too young and you can't even mourn herdeath with your dad. I expect tomorrow will be very difficult for you. If you realize that then you won't be caught unaware. Do something different just in honor of your mom.... Release some helium filled balloons or plant a rose bush in your yard.
We know you're aching and we share your pain with you. Your mom may not be here with you in body but her spririt surrounds you.

Thanks all! It's been a great one so far. My coworkers started off the celebration on Thursday with a cake, ice cream, whole milk (to go with the chocolate cake) and singing... (and a "Happy 50th" mug... seeing as how they "celebrated" my 40th four years ago...). Steve woke me up this morning with mimosas and breakfast in bed, then I went to the farmer's market with a friend and her daughter, and we took the long way back so we could admire the spring flowers and trees in blossom in a particularly beautiful part of town. When I got home I split some cupcakes a friend gave me with Steve, and then made a little more progress on my new garden. Tonight we're taking a dozen or so good friends out for dinner at a nice restaurant, and Steve made arrangements with the restaurant (he had to go to a bakery, since the restaurant doesn't make one) for us to have a couple flourless dark chocolate cakes with raspberry puree under a ganache for dessert (my favorite). I'm leaving out tons of details, but suffice it to say that my introduction to my 40s has been a good one. I feel loved, happy, blessed... and YOUNG! Thanks for thinking of me. :o) Oh, and Don? I think I'll take every day for the rest of my life off from selling insurance!

Okay, Judith, now I feel a little bit better :-) Yes, we'll just have to wait until autumn or next spring to see our roses back in their full glory. redbirds, you are right, it'll soon be SEC football time! I hope my Razorbacks will be ready, with their new coach. Should be interesting. I sure like the looks of that Tamora! At least I think that's what it is. Comtesse de Provence looks great. Moms going in for another procedure tomorrow

got to hear the urologist explain the procedure and alternatives if it's not what they think - or more complex, he sounds competent and confident which makes me happy. Plus I rode up in the elevator with him and he said he liked my flowers [white and pink carnations for MOm :)] good sign to meet him first I think. Saw the D.O. who is such an optimist and has known my family for 35 yrs. Still waiting to hear how it went but at least I saw Mom today. Thanks for the continued support, it's meant alot. Still need a nap though lol.

that maybe that's where you should be?

mom and dad's anniversary was on halloween, and rather than the two of us in our separate households trying to cater to impolite parents and kids in store-bought costumes- I took her out to dinner, and we ate good chinese, and talked about how dad's kosher never seemed to survive the lure of chinese cooking.

*sigh* wish your mom a happy day for me?
