UPDATE: Went to practice session #3 at the eye doctor and was able to get contacts in and out of both eyes. The left eye was harder. The way I got them in was to NOT look in a mirror, pull down just the lower lid, and stare straight ahead. Another optician joined in to help. She saw my nails which were as short as they can be. She said I need to pull the contact down with the pad of my middle finger and then try to pinch the contact off my lower lid. They were out of the lenses with my prescription so they sent me home with just practice lenses until a trial set come in. I need to practice everyday putting the contacts in and out. I am so relieved to have gotten this far! I'm actually glad to just have the practice lenses for a while. I forgot to ask about the mono or multifocal. Thank you all for the help. I did make a word document with all the advice. I may need to refer to it sometimes if I run into trouble. edited to add: I ask about those plunger things to put in contacts. I hope everything went well at the vet's office. Any more seizures? I certainly understand the vet's concern about the severity of Quincy's first seizures. However it doesn't necessarily mean that he will ever have a seizure again. Ana's only seizure lasted 12 minutes, and she was in that post-ictal haze for a good hour afterwards. It was quite a bad seizure- she actually turned blue for a few minutes. And in her post-ictal haze she was VERY aggressive which is totally out of character for her. It took us a half hour to catch her and get her into the car to go to the emergency vet, and I had to grab her with our comforter because she was trying to attack us. Of course by the time we got to the vets, she was pretty much over it. Got the blood work results and took her home. I was worried about her having another seizure too, but am glad I didn't start her on meds right away since she never did have another one. We got lucky. I hope you do too with Quincy.

Just bought new glasses at Zenni. They're not bad, but not the quality I got at Sam's Club. Progressive lenses, anti-glare coating, clip-on sun glasses and new frames for $110 is a good deal for a backup pair. last pair at Sam's Club was $250, and the optometrist's office it was $400 + two years before. I call shenanigans on the story about the upside-down lenses. Even as a child getting glasses for the first time, I would have known if the glasses made things **worse.** As someone else pointed out, if one's eyes could adjust that much, we'd just exercise until we didn't need glasses, wouldn't we? In a former life, I had an optician that griped about me buying contact lenses *not through him* and told me it was illegal (sometime in the early 1980s). It would have been easier to purchase through him, but his office was so disorganized it always took multiple trips to get the right ones. Last time I went, I bought the one box for each eye, and went home to order them through the internet.

What a line-up. What stuck out for me are the Sidney Hook quotes, especially the first quote about teachers and methods. i remember many of my favorite teachers, but don't ask me how they taught.
