New: Lily Society Facebook page for WI and IL set up

This is for the Wisconsin Illinois Lily Society, which is affiliated with the North American Lily Society. If you use Facebook, please consider "liking" our page, and attend an event with us! There is not much on there yet, but I plan to post new content soon, like lily and general gardening articles. On this page we will list upcoming Lily Society events, and post an ongoing series of articles on growing lilies, as well as other gardening tips. Our membership chiefly draws from the Chicago area, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. We offer information to those gardeners seeking to grow these supreme beauties of nature, member of the genus Lilium, in their own gardens, plus the camaraderie that gardeners know. We offer an Education series that meets at various locations in the Chicago area. These will be posted on the Facebook page as they are scheduled. A lily bulb sale also occurs twice a year, in the fall and in the spring. At this sale are offered both popular and unusual varieties, most not available in stores. Our first lecture is this Sunday, at the Northbrook Public Library. I am a member of this group, and was asked to figure out new ways to stimulate attendance at our events. I plan to show it at the meeting this coming Sunday. I hope to have some fans by then to show them the power of social marketing ! Thanks for your support!

Please show me pictures of your framed landscape pictures

Kees_Lover, Thank you for sharing your landscape prints framed showing me so many different ways a picture can be framed and look nice. I really do appreciate all the helpful people on this decorating site. I am now thinking that I like my print despite how much green it has so I have to decide on a frame. I will try to take pictures tomorrow. My sofa and recliner are called taupe but to me is a leather by Natuzzi that is more on the beige taupe side and is very neutral but does not like gold frames and since I have two glass lamps with chrome bases and chrome filaments on top of the very white shades on the glass tables next to the sofa and a triangle glass table in front with the green glass edging, BM Bone White Walls, White baseboard molding and Brazilian Cherry Floors, I am wondering if a Bronze frame will go or will it clash with the sofa or the chrome? Bronze is more of a brown right? I also like a brown espresso very ornate frame but I wonder if it would be too dark. My picture if of Japanese Maple trees with dark Pine Trees and some other lighter green trees and some trees with orange and yellow but the green dominates with red the second color. There is a bridge and a green pond probably from algae. My room needs some color so bad and I wish I had chosen a dark brown or Mahogany sofa and not taupe years ago since it took me a year to buy some furniture when I bought my first home. Do you think a 40"X 30"size print would be good that will get bigger with a mat and frame for an 81" long sofa? I never bought pictures before except for the small framed prints in 2007 from JCPenney. I went there and they have no more framed prints for sale in their store.

@bernard Trust me, I would've taken many more home if I had more space... haha. But also I got there much later so most of the nice ones were already gone I think. Thanks for the link, I wish there's more coming up in Toronto though @nametaken Thanks for the comment, must be nice to have lived so close to a wonderful garden. I did see that tree I think!! I will post some more cool plants/flowers I saw later. The prices were average-high I think, but again probably because I got there late

Patsypie, did you use Netscape to publish your files to your website? You have to make sure the graphic files were uploaded also. You may have just uploaded the html file.

MaryAnn,

Thanks for your response. This is my first rodeo and getting my page uploaded is giving me a whipping.

Yes, I used your Netscape and find that it is very user friendly. But I used WS FTP to upload. I attempted to publish with Netscape, but nothing happened...machine just sat idle for 3 hours. Will try publishing with Netscape again if you think that will give me a better result.

Things look good after I edit my page in c://; but when I upload the page into http//, my changes are not taking effect. (And, to make sure all the pix were uploaded, I copied the folder to the upload folder.)

I would post a link, but the page is not nearly ready for the critics. It's just a little site with pictures of my family...just meant for keeping my family connected.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Patsy, I compose my page with Netscape, but I upload with WS FTP. All I do is upload the html file and then each image file that I have put on it. If you would like to e-mail me I will be happy to help you all I can. Just click on "my page".

Also....after you edit your page are you saving it? Then upload using WS FTP. Sometimes you have to click on refresh in order for the newly edited page to show correctly.

If you won't let me look at the problem there's no way I can help you. Forget I offered.

You really should post a url. These things are easy to spot and troubleshoot with a link.
This is a quick list though.
Case sensitivity... Abc.gif is not the same as ABC.GIF etc
so look at the code and the name of the file as well as the names of all folders.
Missing file...make sure you uploaded the file
Misplaced file...is the image file where your code says it is...an image in a subdirectory called images/ will not be found if the code points to a different place.

Good luck

Dorothy
