Digital camera ??????

I would like to know what digital camera you use to send pictures back and forth via email with family and friends??? I would like to stay in the $200 range. I would like one that will take real close ups and far away.

Thanks for your input!

Well, I can tell you that I DON'T recommend Hewlett Packard. The flash on my PhotoSmart 210 quit working the same day the warranty expired, which was Christmas day. Once the warranty expires, their tech support by phone is $2.50 per minute, including wait time, and their free email support is a bad joke. Now it is one and a half years old, and has quit working. I wish I could suggest a good camera; I'm looking for one myself. If you get a good kind, though, you will greatly enjoy it. I had a blast with mine, up to the aforementioned point. Good luck! Pinecone, I have seen your post here for the past week but didn't respond because I don't know of any digital cameras in the $200 range that are any good. (there may be some, but I'm just not aware of them). I have a Sony Mavica FD7 that retailed for around $695, and I have enjoyed using it. It puts the pictures on a floppy disk which can then be viewed from any computer. You don't have to connect any cables, etc. It takes very good close up shots!

Thanks everyone for the kind words...and sorry the pics are so big. I realized afterwards that I need to resize them. I'll try to figure out that process! About the fuschia, tina...they don't do well here but my variety is unique as it was sent from Massachusetts! It gets low light now although during the winter it was in full sun. I don't expect it to last through the humid summer but I have rooted cuttings that will stay indoors until next fall and I hope that works. You do see lots of them now for sale and it irks me, because they just won't last long outdoors. I just love the delicate flowers. Carol (yes, me too sweltering in Sarasota) - I've had that orchid cactus for years and it doesn't always bloom but this year, I've had 6 blooms. It is really neat, I think. Thanks again all, Hester

I think I finally found a winner. I am going to be posting shots from the other cameras too. The Nikon coolpix S8200 does great zoom shots and can get good closeups of flowers and that wasn't even on the macro setting. I posted some pictures here. Great detail on the sweet alyssum and that was a zoom taken from a standing position. The gazebo close up one was taken from the deck at the top of the property. The gazebo is almost at the bottom. You can see the difference between using the zoom and taking it wide open. Also see the property denuded of trees. DH has been cutting down all the Monterey Cypress but that is another story. My quest was for a camera that could capture accurate colors of iris and roses. I saw my brother's pocket size Canon S230 (pocket size) was doing a better job on peach colored iris so I bought a Canon A95 (excel reviews, point and shoot but not pocket sized). I loved my old Olympus C3020 for reds and blues but figured it could die soon. Was I disappointed with my Canon! Did not do as good a job as my brother's on peach colors and not nearly as good as the Oly on reds, lavenders! The Oly did die after 7-8 years of service and the Canon croaked after only 3 years. I kicked myself for not spending more for a Panasonic (the many many iris pics taken with the DMC-FZ20 that I saw were consistently excellent). In desperation 2 years ago, before iris season, I bought a used $40 Sony W290. Quite good on all iris colors as Sony fans claimed, but there was a missing quality I can't define. Picked up a $100 used Canon G9 last year and I'm at last satisfied. Very good on iris and excellent on roses. So I've concluded that the model is quite as important as the maker. I like the Canon G series better than a friend's Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR --- tried it for a few weeks. Still itching to try a Panasonic. Good luck.

I love my Olympus D-360L and it has been out long enough to be quite cheap. There are other cameras Olympus makes in that line that are inexpensive and quite good.

You can use any digital camera to send photos. You download the photos from your computer from the camera and use your email program to send them as attachments.

You can look through the garden section of my website to see how the camera does there are many pictures there. the pcitures on the website are small to keep download times down, the camera takes much larger pictures.
