Suzieque, I had rotator cuff repair surgery two years ago. Also a full tear plus bicep something. The complete recovery takes quite a while. I never had horrible pain. Like rhizo, I used an ice machine intermittantly throughout the day and at night. My machine also applied compression. At night I slept in an adjustable bed. It was a huge help. I also took 5 mg ofAmbien and slept very well. I only used rx pain meds once and Tylenol with the ice machine ( use frozen water bottles, label removed ) was enough after that. I just hated that dumb sling! Six to eight months after surgery I was still having very annoying pain. I really thought I needed to have the joint replaced. My original ortho sent me to a second doc who does replacements. He said to try another steroid injection, and that did the trick! I still have some lack of strength and mild pain with some movements. Reaching forward and up hurts. Complete healing is a long process, although not debilitating. I hope the proper bed, ice, and Tylenol get you through. In the end you’ll be glad you did it. I am. Happy to answer any other questions about my experience.

Every drug store is going to have a stool softener in small tablet form. Buy a bottle, they are not expensive and they are not laxatives. Just a guard against needing to 'push'. My sister in law had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago. The doctors asked her to go as heavy on protein as she could, said she would heal faster so she did that. Lots of eggs breakfast or even dinner. Red meat when she'd been eating little of that. I hadn't heard of it but they did some kind of interior 'wash' when they'd finished the surgery. It was somehow loaded with pain killer. She didn't need any of the tablets they gave her until about day 4, then only took them a couple of days before switching to tylenol. A university hospital.

Eld, my issues arent from the typical astigmatism. I believe a LOT of people have some degree of astigmatism but mine was extreme. My vision was never able to be corrected with lenses and after 50+ yr of struggling to focus, my muscles went bad. As a result of that, my brain had issues processing the images so I had double vision and also my depth perception was lost. That's in a nutshell. You would have known all your life if you had major issues with your level of astigmatism... or at least more recently if you had age-related vision issues beyond cataracts. I did have astigmatism lenses inserted as part of the cataract surgery -- I dont know how mine compare to the lenses that are inserted in a normal operation so I'd consult your dr. My lenses were considered "cosmetic" even with all my issues (and my prior 2 surgeries). I dont remember the exact price but I think it was in the 8K range. I get the impression that it was more than a typical cataract lens but not sure. I have good insurance and the cataract portion of surgery was well covered -- but no insurance covers what they consider "cosmetic". I definitely recommend you talk to your dr about your level of astigmatism and eye correction. You do not need to have corrective lenses inserted. so you can decide what is best for you together.
