Sinus surgery

Hello everyone

I wonder if anyone has had or known someone who has had sinus surgery. It looks like I might have to go for it soon and I am nervous about it. Please share your experiences if you don't mind.

Not to worry. I am assuming you are having them opened up.
I had that surgery about 9 years ago. Nothing to it. The worst thing was not being able to eat anything that day. My surgery was not till 4 p.m. and by the time they got to me I had a headache from being so hungry. I went in shortly after that but I can't remember how long the surgery took. When I came out I had a nosebleed for awhile but the biggest thing was still the headache. They gave me some tylenol, the bleeding stopped and my husband brought me home around 7 o'clock. I guess I had some discomfort for a day or two. You are not allowed to blow your nose for a week. (I think it was a week) There's really nothing to worry about.
I hope it solves whatever problem you are having. For me, it didn't help much, but they warned me it probably wouldn't. I had the surgery because I was having headaches, and found out years later, it was because I was eating cheese and chocolate.

Hello,

I had sinus surgery two years ago. The surgery itself was a breeze. It is quite annoying to have packing in your nose for a week afterwards but not really painful. The worst thing about the whole entire surgery was having the packing taken out. But it only lasts a few minutes and I could BREATHE again! Best wishes to you. Keep us posted.

Oooh! I have miserable sinus problems, so you have my total sympathy!! Recently I took my son to an ENT for his sinuses. He's a mouth breather, and is always congested, but over the last couple of years it's gotten really bad. He's had infection after infection, and is always feeling crummy. I know he has trouble sleeping, and I thought the sinus situation was making things worse. I also thought this was making it harder for him in school, since he wakes up exhausted and falls asleep in class. The ENT took some blood, and it turned out Max is extremely allergic to....trees. And grasses. Like all kinds. Olive trees, eucalyptus, oaks, elms and sycamores. All very prolific in California, and everywhere around where we live, work and play. The treatment consists of giving small amounts of the allergans in injection form over several months, allowing the body to build up the necessary antibodies and permanently eliminating the allergies. We're into the second week already. I really thought Max would have to have surgery, but it turns out the allergies were controllable. Maybe that will be what is causing all your sinus infections? By the way, when I asked the doctor about sinus treatments, I told him about the time my mom took me to an ENT for my terrible sinuses when I was about 12. He drained my sinuses. I remember how good it felt. I said I didn't remember what the treatment was called. He said "today, we call that treatment malpractice!" Oh well.

Good luck with your recovery Marin, I've heard horror stories about nasal surgery. To offer my 2cents, 1. Kill the ants, they spread various types of scale and are a nuisance when you try to bring your pots into the GH or worse the home. 2. Kill the ants. 3. Did I mention kill the ants? Find out where their nest is (in your pots) and soak those suckers. I've been using Bayer spray lately and it seems to work OK. I use it to spray a line around my house and garage and now have a kill on sight policy towards those little buggers. If I come across a nest or a trail to follow back to the nest, I will stop almost whatever I'm doing to douse them. 4. While at the box store buying poison to kill the ants, check on masks, maybe in the paint dept? I've seen them from simple surgical mask with filter inserts to serious canister type with micron filtration, carbon, etc. It might get pretty miserable wearing to heavy of a mask around in you heat and humidity. 'Course you could just get a bubble suit so at least it is air conditioned? Did I mention, kill the ants? best wishes, -Ethan

I assume you’re getting Samplize paint swatches or something similar to try in various parts of your kitchen and next to your floor and countertops. You’ve chosen cool gray colors do likely you’ll need a cool green, gray- green and will likely eliminate warm greens. For example, I like Billiard as a green for me because of how it’s a yellow - green and looks good with warm woods. But probably is not your green with that flooring. Some of the other greens are quite dark , kind of blackened, so see if they are too dark or instead give a good crisp look.

Thank much. I feel much better after hearing from you both. Although not being able to blow your nose for a week sounds like the height of discomfort to me!! I have my surgery scheduled for 27th and I will certainly keep you posted.
