IdaClaire - I also worried about the weight of a down comforter until I finally bought one - well due to DH's allergies I bought an alternative down, but it is basically the same weight. The comforter itself is very lightweight and I was amazed at how cozy and warm my little nest became. It is significantly lighter than the matelasse coverlet that I use in the summer. I bought mine from the Company Store because you can order 'oversize' comforters and I like having the extra drop on the sides. You can order the weight (or warmth level) you want too. Since I'm in the north east I bought the medium warmth but they also sell lighter weight ones. But here's the tricky part - depending on what you use as a duvet cover you can make it significantly heavier. I made my own from king size Ralph Lauren sheets to match my bedding so they are still fairly light. However if you chose a heavier material you will notice it - especially when you remember that you're adding 2 more layers of fabric. I love the photos you posted - it reminds me of those times when my family drove cross country to New Mexico to visit our grandparents and cousins. 2 of my aunts had adobe homes and they truly enchanted me. Inside the front bedroom of a house that passed a sale inspection ...we had some hairline cracks in the plaster that turned out to be covering major damage from decades earlier. The "repairs" turned into a multi-week multi-thousand dollar total remove, apply metal lathe and re-plaster the interior. Of the whole house ... Our house was built before electricity ... it's been tucked in along door frames and behind baseboards. We also have a few places with conduit exposed. The joy of living where housing codes and inspections were unknown. Massive erosion under a window from cracked exterior stucco and poor daulking, and the window was placed directly on the adobe with no framing, just the steel window supporting the wall. Replacing this window would rebuilding most of the wall. Needless to say, it's staying.

I really don't know much about the subject but from what I understand and perhaps it may be oversimplifying the concept but I think a glyph is a subset of what most of us would call a font. Kind of like in books when they use a big, fancy letter at the beginning of a chapter. A "fancy" letter "I" at the beginning of this paragraph would be a glyph. Obviously you need software to create glyphs but I'm not sure about using them in, say, a Word document. You might be better off asking in one of the forums dedicated to typography. As for buying used software, there's nothing wrong with it per se but this is one of the times you really, really need to be able to trust the seller. Most licensing agreements are very complex and I have no idea if Adobe even allows their software to be resold. You should also assume that you will not get any support from Adobe should something go wrong. I believe that Adobe does offer an monthly subscription to most of their software so you can play around with the latest, greatest version of whatever you'd like to use at a minimum upfront cost.

About 2 years ago, someone else asked this question. You should take a look at what was said there.
