I have also been wondering about that. I have been thinking about her and checking back in here to see if she had posted.

Concerns about Mannington Adura

Mannington is a great company and they make great products. As a dealer of theirs I will recommend you glue this product down for best results. Any other dealer that suggests otherwise is nuts. I had too many claims against the floating version due to the product not locking properly, raised edges etc. and zilch for the glue down. It's not worth the hassle. Durability of the product is great. Please use coasters or pads under chairs and couches (as with any floor). The product will handle great against dogs and toe nails. --A trapped dog attempting to dig its way out of a room will tear up any floor, even this one. Keep an extra box handy, accidents happen. Glue down is much easier to repair, as noted above. Prep of your subfloor is everything. Make sure it is prepped properly and by their guidelines.

For those concerned about pre-rinsing dishes

Dadoes, My DW was chosen for its ability to dry, because my normal loads don't hold enough heat to work to dry the European way. Even so, I have to use specific settings to get the drying. The DW isn't worth using, IMH, if the dishes aren't dry, especially since they might sit clean for a couple of days and start smelling. There are still a few pools in depressions, of course, but those don't get that put away wet smell, and are inevitable, even with angled loading. It is within the realm of possibility that a fancier, newer DW would get dried, stuck gunk off better, or maybe a more aggressive detergent, but using a minimal amount of extra water to prevent failure of what I have, works for me.

Layout review, bathroom concern
Q

For empty nesters there is no issue with the bedroom off the living. No kids up late watching tv. It helps with air circulation too. The other option would be off the foyer but I prefer this. The guests who are family will have no issues with not having a connected bathroom. House can't be seen from the road or other houses so no one peaking in front door. Many passive / passive solar homes have similar layouts. This is by far the best I've seen. I talking about homes designed by architects not out of a book. Fitting all your dreams and desires into a rectangle isnt easy. Desk will be a batwing pantry. As for island I have it like this now and like it. I take out overthing I need from pantry and fridge and put on island. Then prep on other side. Keeps people who are just getting a drink out of the work area.

Concern about weight on wall-mounted bathroom vanity
Q
Comments (9)
I had an 82" floating vanity installed - however, the way the contractor attached it to the wall with strong metal supports attached to studs that hold up all of the weight of the thick mitered countertop + metal supports for the actual vanity + added extra support underneath in the back (you can't see the extra support under the back of the vanity unless you put your head down on the floor and looked under the vanity), I think two men could stand on it without it doing anything to the vanity. The contractor added more support than needed - but I didn't want to have an issue in case someone decided to step/sit on it or lean against it for some reason. You need to know how the vanity was installed. However, if it's not moving at all when you try to make it move a little, it's probably fine. It was very unprofessional for a contractor to not bring a step stool/small ladder with him.

I am also concerned. I have e-mailed her, but she has not responded. I am hoping that someone who knows her has gotten her help to get through this somehow.

Hello Everyone....Bless you for your concern. Just haven't been on the puter in awhile....am trying to get caught up on things around the house and yard and also spend alot of time with my Dad. He is doing just o.k. Has been having alot of trouble with his blood pressure...had him to ER 2 times...finally feeling better. Yesterday was a bad day for him....he misses Mom so much...he will tell me that he knows she was ready to go home to be with the Lord...they would have been married 68 years on the 21st. He has gone down and stayed a few days with my sister...while he was gone I would go down to do laundry and it was so hard to look into their little apartment....both not being there. I miss Mom so much and at times the pain just comes over me...I know all the blessings of having Mom with me and being able to take care of her and in my heart and mind I know she is at rest....but all my life I knew that my beautiful Mom was loving me....even during the 9 years of me taking care of her. Again bless you all for your concern. I will try to get on more often. I pray that all is well for you. Nora

I believe there are two different Noras. Has anyone heard from the Nora whose email is nora@land.ru and posted under the title "My beloved husband died unexpectedly." She sounded extremely depressed and many people urged her to seek help immediately, but we've heard no further from her.
