Today , worst canning or cooking injury ever! i was making the super finiky black cherry syrup. i wanted to make sure it was thick enough to use on waffles. so i turned it up towards the end i am constantly stiring and its full on molten its not just boiling its foaming like crazy . so i start getting it into my jars . after hours of picking, pitting , then stirring i want every last drop! so i tip up the hot pan to scoop out the rest. i dont know what i did if i hit the side of my funnel or what. i feel a huge splotch of it hit my hand and i know immediatly im in trouble. i have burnt myself plenty of times baking , canning with steam usually i just put it in ice water use aloe and im fine. as soon as i put my hand under cold water the boiling hot molten sugar turns hard and brittle and is stuck on my hand . i know it has to come off so im scrubbing and washing and its like my skin liquified. i can see it being pulled off with the now hard candy on my hand. im thinking ohhhh sh*t this is bad but ask my son to grab aloe any tylonal . normally aloe is cooling and might feel sticky but it doesnt hurt. this was insane pain im almost throwubg up it stings so bad. i am looking at my hand and around the area thats burnt with no top layers of skin and is red and pissed its turning white and yellow. i gave up went to the ER. they said omg yah thats bad! so i got some cream and pain meds and have to go back daily for a few days so they can change badages and check its ok. weirdly it hurts some places but others theres no pain at all. where the pain is its super crazy bad. No blister! i think i went passed that. weirdly even non stick hospital grade stuff sticks to it.

I have been stung by peppers so many times you would thing I would learn by now. The worst by far was a few years back I decided to make some Habanero Mango sauce. Of course as usual I cut up the peppers not wearing any gloves, rubbed my eyes, and other unmentionables. This hurt but was mere childs play as to the pain that was to be unleashed later. As my wife doesn't like the smell of my pepper sauce cooking, I decided to fire up the propane burner on the back porch. It was a very hot summer day so to cool down a bit and to help even out the farmers tan I took off my shirt and began the cooking ritual which of course included many adult beverages. The small turkey fryer propane stove sat rather close to the ground so I spent the hour and a half to two hours bent over stirring my yummy concoction. I was tired, hot, and letting my jars cool so I thought it would be a good time to take a nice soothing shower. I turn the water on, get it up to a nice temperature. Step in. I let the hot water cascade over my aching head and back. This is a wonderful end to a hard days work, boy was I wrong. I turned to face the shower head and thought scalding water heated by the power of the sun had been poured over my body. The hot water seemed to activate the now relized chemical burn on my stomach and chest. As I spend the next 20 minutes or so in the now ice cold shower trying to make the burn stop, I relize that leaning over a steamy pot of Habanero peppers for any length of time is not a good idea. Josh, I do have some Japanese Painted Ferns but what is shown is varagated Packasandra. Started with a few plants that take off from stem cuttings in the early spring. Now I have hundreds used as a border. Behind them Hosta Gold Standard and various common ones. Under a seedling Japanese maple tree. There is some mix-mash of wild ferns from our woods. Also a few jack'n the pulpit just for fun. Wait, in the first picture is a Japanese painted fern. You are right my friend.

Not sure why the website wouldn't let me type anything from my phone, but here I am. I am in Oklahoma as well and this vine is what causes the issue. The Plant ID calls it Clematis Chinesis. I can find all sorts of uses in medicines but cannot find anything stating that it causes what most of us are experiencing. I feel horrible as I am in a residential neighbor hood and my dogs run around the back yard, but the grass is so high because this vine is everywhere. When I mow, it is like someone poured straight alcohol into my eyes that they won't even open, My Nose starting dripping like a leaky faucet and My lungs close up.
