Hello, Just thought I'd put this out there.. I am very farsighted in both eyes and my left eye is a very lazy eye (meaning very weak vision). I had a new implant in my left eye about 2 years ago but it didn't do much to help the vision in my lazy left eye much. But because of the new lens implant in my left eye my Narrow Angle is not an issue anymore. The fluids are moving as they should now. About my right eye .... I'm 66 and the doctor wants me to wait a little longer before I getting a new implant lens in my right eye. It's my only good eye so she want me to wait as long as I can before messing with my only good eye. But she said I needed to have the laser surgery done because of my Narrow Angle problem. So.... Last week I had the laser treatment done for Narrow Angle in my right eye. The laser surgery is not painful but later after arriving home the numbing drops wore off and I was in discomfort for about 16 hours. The eye felt irritated and burned a little like when you have something in your eye or a scratch on you cornea. I put the drops in as prescribed and the next morning I was ok again, it felt much better. The laser felt like a little pinch in the eye, not very painful at all. I was lasered two times. I'm on a 3-4 month check up now because the Doctor said I'm still at risk for an attack. I understand that some people don't feel any pain at all. I think this surgery is worth having and the discomfort is was not that bad. The Doctor said If I feel any pain whatsoever I should call the office immediately, Do Not Go to a Hospital Emergency Room.

Thanks! Yes, we do plan to mix framed and frameless. I absolutely want framed w/inset doors for the uppers to match the house aesthetic (Arts & Crafts)---originally we'd planned to combine that with frameless lowers, but now the numbers are looking like it may be a mix throughout. However, one of my inspiration kitchens has exactly that so I think it will work. The main challenge is that we'd planned to do Ikea for anything frameless and custom for framed since uppers and lowers would be distinct styles and not need to match, but now it's looking more and more like we should just do custom across the board with all the mixing and matching. So much for our creative cost-savings. :) @bmorepanic, one thing I'd thought of doing with the uppers on that stretch was a 36" upper to mirror the 36" rectangle below, and then a bookshelf upper for the balance of the space (since cookbook storage is missing from the kitchen right now). Uppers will be at least 13" deep (need that much to clear our plates!) and possibly 13.5" or 14" depending on who makes them. I think I liked it better when we were doing Ikea and I didn't need to worry about measurements on all of these!! :)

Speaking of coffee mugs... I often wish I'd seen the little shallow shelves that some people tuck under their uppers for that purpose...Or maybe made room to hang mugs. Just something else to think about and confuse the issue, maybe. ;-) I know that this is a whole 'nother option, and seems to fly in the face of my preference for the double door, but if you want to embrace the open shelves and use them more, which I can see happening because of my own experience, I could seriously consider a 12" door (hinging on the left, knob on the right) and 24" of open shelves from it to corner. (Long sentence) But again, it depends on how much open vs closed storage you want in that corner.

In retrospect I should have posted a photo with tv pushed back against the fireplace wall, it doesn't look nearly as intimidating and large then. The problem with the small grouping in front of the fireplace is that the fireplace is halfway into the livingroom so the chair facing the window in the diagram above from Rawket Grl, would actually be sitting directly in front of the fireplace. And FYI there are 10 stockings hanging over the fireplace and there will be 10 of us when we get together over the holidays. As it is now, I realize we should have thought a little more before installing the tv over the fireplace but wanted to be able to see it from all points on the main floor, from the seating area and also when I am cooking at the other end in the kitchen. We don't really want to move it now since we installed the cables for it and the wallmount around the barnwood fireplace surround, so will have to deal with that aspect. I loved the suggestions though, with the smaller scale furniture and will certainly be shopping in the near future! Luckily we hadn't purchased any furniture for the basement recreation room, so this sectional will fit nicely down there! Thanks for all the help.
