Anyone with seasonal allergies

I was sick with what I thought was a sinus infection or bronchitis. I was told that I have allergic rhinitis, or seasonal allergies. I'm 53 and have never had an allergy. I'm on Allegra and Flonase, which are making me really dizzy and tired. Nonstop nose blowing for the last two weeks. Today when I blew my nose, blood gushed out of it, and wouldn't stop right away.

Of course, working 6-day weeks for the last two months (tax season) doesn't help matters either.

cheerful, I didn't have any allergies either until well into my adult years...now I seem to have some reactions to pollens, from the timing of it I suspect trees especially but I haven't gone for testing.

Did you call your doctor about the nosebleed? They are listed as a side effect of your Flonase...

Nosebleeds are common with Flonase, it dries out the mucus lining inside of your nose and that is why it bleeds.

I take Fexofenadine for my allergies, it is the best med I have ever found for allergies. I have tried every OTC kind, nothing works like this. Ask your doctor about it.

Some trees and shrubs always are in bloom in January and in a mild winter can start in December. Elms, maples, and willows have family members that drop lots of pollen at this time of the year. Depending where you are some honeysuckles, witchhazels etc are also blooming. Watch which trees the squirrels seem to be spending their time in. We used to have what is commonly called slippery elm that the squirrels killed because there was no food and they ate the buds and large portions of the bark. I have had various seasonal allergies all year. This winter started last week of November.

Anyone have a peanut allergy?

My son has a life-threatening peanut allergy. We go through this every year. He doesn't even get to go...never has. It's just not worth the chance. Aside from leaving out the obvious M&Ms (plain or peanut, or any of their flavors), you have to watch out for the not-so-obvious. Often the "specialty" packaged Halloween candy is made not at the same plant that makes the original candy. For example, the candy bar at the convenience store may be peanut free. That same brand may produce a "mini" version for Halloween. That "mini" version may be manufactured in a different plant that DOES process peanuts. It will have a peanut warning label...where as the convenience store candy bar DID NOT. This is difficult for a child to understand. This is where Michael thinks candy makers are out to trick him. Even the things you know are safe in their typical, usual size...I encourage you to check the ingredients if there is special sizing/packaging for Halloween. The peanut warning will come at the end with the other allergens, if any. Of course, this is true of all holiday special packaging...not just Halloween. If there are any halloween treats that are "jelly bean-like," check the package. Many jelly beans have peanut flour. Pixie Stix, SweeTarts, Smarties, Peppermints, Skittles, that nature of candy has been okay for us in the past. We stay away from Halloween packaged chocolate...I just give Michael the regular-sized versions of what I know he can have. That makes him feel like he has madeup for trick-or-treating. Good luck!

Lucky You Glenda! I never had them until about 5 years ago.I still don't have them bad but they have been bothering me a lot lately.I have a constant tickle in my throat and have to suck on a cough drop a lot.DDIL told me today that I need to go to the doctor because she can hear me coughing at night.I told her if she and DS would quit smoking in the bathroom I wouldn't be coughing as much! LOL I can smell it through my A/C vent and I have the vent closed! I take benadryl and that usually takes care of it.My doctor gave me a prescription back in the fall for a nasal spray but it was $135.00 so I figured I'd just keep doing what I had been doing.LOL Everything is blooming here now so I'm sure that is the biggest problem.Cigarette smoke bothers me more than anything.They usually don't smoke in the house except for night time,in their bathroom.

I started suffering from hay fever real bad back in 1999. This coincided with me finally quitting smoking and also diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. These may be connected, it may just be coincidence. I took Clarytin which eased slightly the symptoms but I found nothing that relieved them altogether.

This charade every Spring and Summer only lasted a few years. By 2004 it seemed to have gone altogether. Except aerosols. They still set me off. Air fresheners, polish, deoderents. If they come in an aerosol I can't go near them.

I had strong hay fewer from childhood so I know how limiting allergies can be. I used to hate it sooo much. And practically all pills made me sleepy, even if they had "Non drowsy" labels all over... And no pills helped entirely, I always had more or less allergic problems. So when my doctor put me on Singulair it just simple has changed my life. I am not sleepy and I practically do not have any alergic problems. My alergic asthma is perfectly controlled too. Actually last year I first time in my life could smell spring. It is funny - I always thought that spring smells just in poetry since I was not able to smell it really. I am so fond of Singulair that I always recommend it to everybody with allergies. It definitely has changed my life...and I know it sounds kinda ridiculous. But if you had such a bad allergy and suddenly you did get rid of it - you would understand. Anyway, good luck to everybody to control any allergy.

I am fighting allergies right now. For the last few weeks
It has gotton really bad. Thought I had something much worse.
The Clariton does not work much for me anymore. I take Actifed with it. But am thinking I should see a Dr about them. Staying indoors on a nice day in May is not fun.
