I have a couple more, one involves practicing medicine without a license! - if arthritis is the problem with your knees - ask your doctor if you are a candidate for Synvisc or Hyalagan injections. I've had them, (a flu shot hurts worse) and they have greatly helped. It's a fluid that replaces the synovial fluid in the joint that gets absorbed as we grow older. Six months relief is considred a success, and insurance companies will pay for them. Cheaper than surgery! Worth looking into. Two summers ago, we made a "Square Foot Garden" and built two 3 ft.x 8 ft. boxes with 24 planting squares each, and one of them (it has a bottom on it) we placed on cinder blocks. I can plant,water and harvest standing up! It is small, so we do succession planting. You know it's my favorite spot. We plan on adding another this year. If you need more details just holler. Depends. If the soil has ample amounts of organic matter now and an active Soil Food Web mixing in a high carbon source of material might have little to no adverse affect. However, if the soil lacks adequate amounts of organic matter and an active Soil Food Web, mixing a source of high carbon into the soil can result in the soil bacteria getting busy digesting that carbon and temporarily causing most of the available Nitrogen to be tied up. Once that carbon is digested, or mostly so, that N will be once again available to the plants.

fairfieldcircle, With my back up against the jamb, I extend one arm to the right and the other to the left - something like a book. The front cover is the inside door (my right arm) and the storm door is the back cover (my left arm). This is a door installers' rule of thumb. Although occasionally there is a real reason why the above would not work, but most of the time its' best. Although porches are my first love, I've installed windows and doors for thirty years to pay the bills and have seen em all. Keep both doors' hinges on the same side of the jamb and be careful to mount the storm door handle at a height where it won't interfear with the inside doors' handle. Good Luck. Hi @Lynn Morford, I hate to jinx things, but now three months in, I LOVE the floors. I fact, I admire them many times a day (good distraction from current CV craziness). There are about a dozen spots where there were dings or tiny cracks, which freaked me out at first, but I'm pretty sure it was just from the movers. I do take care of them like a newborn child, though--sweep, vacuum, wipe, repeat. Overall, I'm very happy with them! @everdebz, we ended up gluing down. Definitely harder on my body that floating but I've learned to wear slippers or socks and I have yoga mats in most rooms to give my feet a little vacation as I walk through the house, lol. In the end, I trusted @joseph_corlett's comment about letting the contractor make the call on what is best for the situation. Granted, I still pine for the perfect floating feel of my old Junckers flooring, but apparently theirs were unique and most other flooring can't float the same way, so... Anyway, the sad fact is, you can't remove glue-downs without destroying the boards. So fingers crossed you never have to! (I put fake wood in my laundry room and we've already had three floods, so thank god for that decision.)
