How can I get these to firm up more? (pix-maple syrup truffles)

I tried a recipe for Maple Syrup Truffles and they came out kinda oozy. I'm not thrilled with how very soft the centers are, and wondered if anyone could tell me what I can add or do to make the centers hold up better. They were a pain to coat in melted chocolate too! The only reason they look good in the photo is because I kept them in the fridge! That's a lavender leaf on top.

Here's the recipe:

4 oz white chocolate, chopped (I used Valrhona)

1/8 C (2 T) unsalted butter

1 T heavy whipping cream

1/4 C maple syrup

Gently melt the white chocolate. Set aside.

In a small pan, heat butter and cream together until you get small bubbles around the edge of the pan.

Pour butter and cream mixture into a warm bowl. Add melted white chocolate & whisk or stir.

Whisk in or stir in the maple syrup until smooth

Cover and put in fridge for 1 hr.

Line baking sheet with parchment and spoon truffle mixture into mounds. Put in fridge until firm, about 15 mins (Note--they never did get firm and I left them in for an hour)

Make sure you have cool hands and roll mounds into balls, coating hands w/cornstarch if needed to keep them from being too sticky. Let stand uncovered at room temp for 2 hrs. (Note: if I let them stand at room temp, they would have oozed so I put them in the fridge for 2 hours)

Line another baking pan with parchment or wax paper. Melt the white dipping chocolate, bark or candy melts in bowl and stir until smooth. Dip the truffles and set on parchment or wax paper.

Well, the rolled balls oozed off the fork, they fell off the toothpick, and they sank into the candy-dipping spoon.

Any ideas what I can do to make them more like a ganache-textured truffle? I don't want to sacrifice the nice maple flavor this has, but unless there is a solution, I'm not likely to make this again.

Thanks for any help!

Smiles,

Sooz
