go to a reputable high end floor coverings retailer and discuss this with them. Especially ones that specialize in wovens and sewing. as long as there is a lengthwise pattern match in the runner, almmost any runner pattern can be made to line up but this can requires alot of angle cutting, seaming/sewing and pattern dropping because of the stair angles and radius'es, which end up consuming exponentially more runner material, and the larger the pattern match the more material is consumed to line up the patterns, because of waste factor in making the patterns line up. Expect alot of seaming or sewing. Expect to pay top dollar ... probably more than what you figure as top dollar. Most people specializing in this type of work will want or require you to purchase their materials. It's all custom work.

I'd leave the landing wood - no runner. My parents have a beautiful wool oriental runner going up their stairs. The men who installed it, did a stinky job. It was impossible to make the turns, and they spliced it really weird. I have been after my parents for years to take the landing part off.

Having worked for a carpet installer when I was young, I would say hire a pro for not only cosmetic reasons, but safety as well. You want the runner tight! Not going to break the bank to have it professionally done, imho. Seek out a reputable rugger who has experience with stairs, check references and even go as far as seeing their work, if possible. A runner installed right will last the life of the runner, done wrong, there can be many nightmares, the biggest being safety.

cand1781, I showed your pattern to my husband. He said it's not going to line up if you look at each individual step. Being a curved staircase you'd have to square it at the front of each step but the overall affect will look good and he's never had anyone complain (he's world famous for his staircase runners) :) BTW, there is a difference between a runner and carpeted stairs. A runner has to be templated and bound and goes over an existing wood staircase vs installed over a subfloor with stained wood (or tile) on each side of the stair. Is that what you're doing? What he said would work better is a smaller pattern or something with florals and/or vines, but what you're looking at will be fine if it's installed correctly. This is the only picture I have. It's winding but a much smaller pattern (if it even is a pattern). I just happen to be with him one day when he needed to stop by this house and tie in the stair with the landing at the top.
