I started using coconut oil not too long ago on my hair, and putting it into my coffee in the morning. yes, it floats on the top of the coffee, but surprisingly, it doesn't leave a greasy taste in your mouth when you drink it. My hair has never been so soft! I don't even use conditioner anymore. I just put a dab on my hands (not much, you may have to experiment) and rub it on and let it sit for a few minutes to soak in, then comb it through really well. Even blow drying my hair doesn't make it frizzy with the coconut oil on. Once a week, I put it on and let my hair dry naturally, so it can soak it all up. It makes your skin so smooth! I tried using it on my face, but I have adult acne, and it broke it out. But I did add a couple of drops to my moisturizer at night, and it didn't break me out that way. Anyway, my skin is much smoother, on my face and everywhere else I use it.

The US spends more money on health than all the other nations put together and they are there is 36 nations who live longer. They expect that the US will sink even lower on the list. So much for medical science and longevity. How can you be so proud of your surgery when the fact is the doctors have failed you. They did not cure the problem that is why you needed the surgery. Surgery does not address the cause only removes the result. If the cause is not addressed it will show up some where else. If you need surgery you are using the wrong doctor. You should not get mad with me by pointing out the obvious. You should be mad at the doctors for failing you. Who is the modern snake oil salesman is the doctors who prescribe Vicodin, Oxycontin, Vioxx, Mirapex Lipitor Chantix, Lariam, Prozac, Plavix, Baycol, Bextra, Colchicine These snake oils and others kill thousand and injure millions of people and they all get a pass from judgement and no one goes to jail. I'm back...I made the plain yogurt cake on The Kitchn blog...made it exactly as she said and only added the grated rind of a lemon. Baked it 50 min. Used EEVO as that is all I had...not just plain OO. It was WONDERFUL. LIght and tasty and no oily taste at all. We had it last night and again this AM with sliced strawberries. The bottom line is , if you take in too many calories vs how many you burn you will gain weight and potentially be unhealthy. Moderation in ALL things is best. You can't leave out any food group without suffering consequences. If you leave out meat you have to make up the difference with the proper amino acids in complementary proteins. I've tried all of the substitutes and I don't like any of them. The ones combined with water make toast too soggy, so there's a texture thing combined with the flavor. I don't butter vegetables anyway, I like them without, but I have not learned to eat bread or toast plain. So, I've switched to jam on toast most of the time, I make my own low sugar spreads and so can control the sugar and calories that way. Broccoli I like drizzled with a bit of sesame oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds, better than butter. Baked potatoes get topped with homemade yogurt, made with low fat milk. I've learned to just top pancakes with maple or fruit syrup and skip the butter. My family buttered muffins, biscuits, corn on the cob, bread, pancakes, fried mush, oatmeal. Yup, oatmeal. You name it, it got buttered. No wonder Dad had all those heart problems. I still bake with butter, but I've even learned to bake bread without it. If my bread recipe calls for milk, I use skim and it works fine. Canola oil instead of butter, or depending on the bread, olive oil, and the bread still tastes the same. Cream soups get milk, not cream, as do scones. Ganache, though, that needs cream. Good luck, mago, it's definitely a change but you'll get used to it and your taste may even change. You'll pick up an ear of fresh corn and wonder why in the world you covered the wonderful taste with all that butter. Maybe. I've also started using Clean Living, they are on line but have more recipes in their printed magazine. They are a bit extreme in some of their recipes, but many are good. Annie
