My recent furniture buying experience

I recently needed to purchase a large amount of furniture that was going to be delivered out of state. I choose to shop with Boyles and Lex Furniture as I would be paying delivery costs regardless. I have shopped with Boyles in the past, customer service was great, delivery was a breeze. I did have something damaged and I received a follow-up every week until it was handled. Unfortunely they did not have everything I was trying to purchase and on some of the bigger items their prices were significantly higher then Lex Furniture.

Lex furniture is no Boyles. Their prices were better so I decided to go with them. Their delivery is also different from Boyles, they contract to several different companies.

As for the customer service, part of this was my fault, make sure you can work with your sales person. Unfortunely, I tried to shake mine, but she was the only one answering the phone.

If I had known how this experience was going to turn out, I would thought twice about using Lex Furniture. The problems I had were not their fault. They could have communicated better with me regarding those problems. I would call, be told I they would call back, a week nothing. So I would call again. It was very time consuming on my end.

I also ordered some furniture from a online vendor and incountered delays. But due to the wonderful level of customer service I received, I would recommend them to anyone.Again the delays were not the store's fault, but the contacted me and keep me informed. I did not have to call everyweek to find out what was going on like I did with Lex Furniture.

I just wanted to pass on my recent experience. I've read a lot on this board and it's been very helpful. I hope someone finds this message helpful as well.

I will continue to shop at Boyles, while you can beat their prices, you can't beat their service.

I probably not shop at Lex Furniture, never say never, while the prices were good, I did not care for their service.

It sounds like your whole experience was frustrating but hopefully, you are happy and satisfied with your furniture. I've had recent frustrations with furniture myself so I can certainly sympathize. What specific rooms were you furnishing? Were the problems primarily delivery? Let us know. Thanks for posting. It sounds like Boyles is the way to go with Rose now closed.

I was helping my parents furnish their new home. It was for the family room and kitchen. The orders were purchased in September with the hope it would make it in time for Christmas. In early Novemeber I called for status and was told that it would not be ready until mid-January. There was delays. So I called 2 weeks later for another update. And then every week. We received the sofas in mid-December. The kitchen table was delayed but the chairs were ready. I asked for the chairs to be delivered at the end of Novemeber. It's not December 30th and still no chairs. I was told by the owner of Lex that is was not their fault and there was nothing they could do. I agreed that it was not their fault, but they could have keep me informed. I asked for the sofa and kitchen chairs to be released at the same time. The sofa's were delivered 2 1/2 weeks later. The chairs????
Again, I just did not like the service I received from Lex. The furniture is nice, one piece did arrive damaged.

FOCA IS TOXIC. IT IS CHEAP, IT POLLUTES AND IT CONTAINS HARMFUL PRODUCTS BAD FOR YOU . A RESEARCH CAME OUT IN Mexico in 2015 about Foca and the pink soap usually sold just close to it. It contains whitened agents bad for fish and any living creatures,it has impact on skin, can cause allergy, respiratory problems, cancers etc. Look on the EWG site they confirm. Now green does mean safe either, but there are good products outside like GG or others. It means more money, but think of your children, your health and the whole world we all are going to leave to our great children...when we buy we have to be responsible buyers. We can make a better world and these brands should change their formula for us and all living creatures, for a better and safer future. I do not even understand how these brands can still sell harmful products to us...

Any Recent Experience With Ethan Allen Sofas?

I am happy to share my experience with Ethan Allen Sleeper sofas hoping it will help others. We bought a Paramount Sleeper Sofa in 2013. In 2017 we noticed that the front pad that supports the cushions was bulging out (see photo). We contacted Ethan Allen and they said that because the problem was not in the frame, it was out of warranty. I looked at other pieces of furniture in our home and I noticed that the EA sofa, unlike other items, had a very “squishable” pad to support the cushions. We told EA that the sofa is seldom used (at most 20 times per year) and that my husband an I are not heavy and felt that there must be a problem with the design or construction. The final decision came in an email, from which I copy directly: “In conjunction with our warranty department, Jenn and I have carefully reviewed each of your questions and concluded that the sofa is up to our manufacturing standards.” We were told that our only option was to buy a replacement pad and pay a technician to replace it. When the pad arrived it was tightly rolled in a box (see photo). How is this soft pad supposed to support the weight of someone sitting on it? As I wrote EA, the sleeper and frame are “great”, unless one sits on the sofa. Not a good thing... for a sofa. And certainly not good “manufacturing standards” for Ethan Allen.

Any recent experience buying a Thermador Pro Harmony 48 inch gas range

i really like the Thermador brand and we bought the 48" Harmony gas range. We've had it about 6 months now, and I just found out that ambient temp is reading about 25 degrees higher than what it is set at. Also, my probe stopped working which is the reason i was using another thermometer in the oven. Has anyone experienced this? I'm also a little disappointed that the broil function has only one setting which gets very hot. My old Wolf range had low/med/high so i could control the broil better. i have a tech coming in next 2 weeks but wanted to find out if anything has had any issues with their gas range. The things i like about the Thermador are the star burners, the smooth sliding racks, and i like the griddle that we have as well. Very easy to clean since it's nonstick.

Not to beat a dead thread, but I wanted to post a follow up.

The kitchen table chairs were delivered on January 3rd. I received a phone 5 minutes before delivery. Literally 5 mintues. I was trying to tell my parents and their doorbell was ringing.

What about the table? Well last week, I asked my sister to call and it turned out, supposedly it was picked up with the chairs and the delivery company "forgot" about it.
Or at least that is the store this time.
My sister made arrangements for it to be delivered in 2 weeks. The delivery company just called to say they would be delivering within an hour. They were nice of enough to reschedule.
Just when we thought this would be done, the damaged piece came back just as damaged. It's the delivery company's problem apparently.

I am sure for every 100 sales, there is a story like mine. Just thought you might want to hear it.
