Need opinions on Broyhill fabric couch and loveseat.

Hello,

Glad I found this forum; furniture is tough to shop for. I am 28 and just purchased my second home and am looking to buy some quality furniture for a good price. Bang for the buck is what I am looking for here. I am usually really good at cutting through the bull, but furniture shopping poses its challenges.

All that being said I have a deposit down on a Broyhill couch and loveseat from local well respected furniture store that has been around ~90 years. I don't have a model name but put some links to some pictures below. The priced I paid was $799 for the couch and $699 for the loveseat on closeout; original price was $1300 and $1200 I think. Is this decent quality that I can expect to last 10 years + ; I am big guy and have a black lab. They said there is a lifetime warranty on the frame. Also should I purchase the Guardsman fabric protection plan for $60 each? Thanks for your help and here are the pictures...

I am not computer smart at all, and couldn't get your pics to show. Broyhill is a 'beginning' level product to me.Maybe a step up I just ordered a leather sofa, and am hoping it is better than Laz-Boy. Years ago I had a broyhill sofa and it was absolutely great- I am hoping for the same quality again.
Of course, if you let a large dog like that on the couch it isn't going to last as long. And it is going to get a bit 'stinky' from the dog. The warranty won't do anything when the pillows get soft and floppy, or when the fabric get worn/snagged from dog toenails. If you 'plop' down on it, it will not last as long.
Part of it is how you care/use/abuse your furniture!

Well, I guess what I want to know is if I could do better for the money? Or if this was a good price for a Broyhill set?

My suggestion would be to look at the following brands for what you need: Berkline Lane Ashley Palliser Best quality is Berkline and Palliser.....Ashley and Lane are not bad they are just so big that their complaints get visibility online because they have such a large portion of the market. Go with a Berkline sofa that starts with '1' in the model name for the best deal. They are their import models and actually are decent quality. It is one of the import seats that I have had good experiences with.

Go find Smith Bros. of Berne that I was looking at today (at a furn. store that really deals good prices) and I can get a fabulous leather chair that reclines (like a regular Lazy Boy but has no big wood handle, a round disk under the armrest to make you recline)-no foot rest but you put your feet up on a big half moon ottoman. It has pictures on their site. It was in leather and absolutely a dream to SIT IN. Their fabric choices were unbelievable also and less than the leather. In leather for the two it would be $2000 which is a darn good price & nice fabric about $1500. The # I was looking at is 932. Go look on their site. This furn. is like Flexsteel, and the old Berne (no longer in business he said) and some of the other good furniture through the yrs.

Oh gosh, I don't know - the second one is the one I like better off the top of my head. But it is a little too orange. Can you find something the color of a gorbanzo bean? I am sitting here eating my greenbean/gorbanzo bean salad and the 2 colors look very nice together, there's also a small amount of purple onions. I don't like the pattens together in #1. I like your drape and chair fabric together.

How good are you at mixing fabrics? Most homes match the sofa and love seat and have a chair or a pair of matching chairs. This is partially because some people love simple, solid looks. But there is no rule saying it has to be this way. It is easier to achieve an acceptable look this way - far less room for error, but you can mix and match colors, textures, fabrics and have amazing results if you have that ability to envision the end result. I love this love seat - but wouldn't want a matching sofa. Lots of patterns but it all works together: You can mix fabrics on just the sofa Or mix bold colors
