Hancock and Moore Journey Recliner

I'm getting ready to purchase two Hancock and Moore Journey Recliner. I am going standard seat and back cushions based on feedback on this group.

I have chosen the Cavalier Molasses Class II leather. Is this a durable leather or do I need to be concerned? Should I arrange for a stain protector to be put on by H&M or by the retailer?

I was quoted $2898 each. Is this competitive?

Cavalier Molasses is a nice hide. Soft, supple, decent amount of protection. A good middle ground.

My advice is to not have any treatment products applied to it. There is adequate tanning agents in that leather to repel most stains and dirt. H&M does not 'treat' any leather from the factory. Be sure to clean the leather a couple times every year for best longevity.

Checking email from home and I don't have my price lists here, but $ 2,898 seems very, very high for these for a class 2 leather. Should be around $ 1,650 to $ 1,950 as memory serves me on a Journey.

Be sure to send in your warranty card to Hancock and Moore! Its not written down anywhere, but Jimmy Moore makes sure every customer who sends in the warranty registration gets a free gift in the mail.

Checking my prices, that quote you got is pretty tough to swallow. They are over what is considered a standard full markup at a retail store by a significant amount on a # 7039 Journey Louger.

That's also Town and Country program piece in Document Tobacco which is also a class II hide and equal to Cavalier. Buying in the program cuts several hundred more dollars off the price *if* you can use that program leather.

Prices vary from store to store, but you need to call them on that one and get them to sharpen up their pencils. They are not competitive.

I bought what I thought was a quality leather recliner from our local high end furniture store in 2004, paying $2200. It was one of my worst decisions. The mechanism to recline(gas cylinder) and bring the back up stopped working in a few months. Store "claimed" they fixed it. It stopped again. We ended up grabbing the back and pulling it up when we need it up. We have found another store that would sell us another recline(gas cylinder) mechanism and my husband put it in. Again it worked for a short time... Do not buy this Austin Tilt chair - gas cylinder recline mechanism doesn't work! And annually, I have to keep putting new stain on it to cover the scratches or it looks horrible.

Put them up for sale right here...at least people on this forum can appreciate the quality of H&M. You have to have photos, either use HTML code or a link to your ad. Pur in a price and location as well. If the cushions are 'sacked' out from use, get new ones at no charge from H&M before you photo them and run your ad. Duane Collie

Absolutely! All recliners/loungers in the 37xx series are swivel / glider bases (thirteen models). Swivel /glider bases don't add much to the overall cost, generally across any manufacturer they are going to add $ 100 to the price. If you do not want the glider feature, that can usually (but not always) be special ordered from the mechanism maker so the unit is a swivel-only. Cost depends on model and hide, of course - and individual dealer pricing. As an example, the (very popular) # 3732 Austin Swivel Glider Wall-Hugger in Colombia Leather would sell to you at $ 1,695 plus actual shipping cost. Most the rest will be in the price range + / -.
