How do you get deals on high-end appliances?
Comments (28)I've found great deals online at Elite Appliance: www.eliteappliance.com They also just happen to have a showroom in Dallas that I was able to visit. So far so good on customer service, even though we haven't bought anything yet, I'm receiving multiple quotes on the kinds of items we are in the market for. The particular rep who was helping us asked us all the right questions, heard my questions and concerns, explained brands I wasn't familiar with, and tried to steer me in a general right direction for our wants and needs. Plus they offer all brands from high-end to not so and all the prices seem to be as reasonable as I can find. The showroom also had floor models and open box deals that were discounted even more. Hope that helps!...See MoreTile estimate is high. Buying tile online?
Comments (8)Manufactured materials are a different sort of issue, as the variegation are disclosed up front though obvious faults in the finish, which are atypical of the series should still be accepted by your supplier, as long as it's inspected and rejected before it's installed. The key here is that this needs to be done BEFORE the tile is transferred into your possession, if you hope to avoid restocking fees. Once you sign for it, the process gets more complicated. Once it's left the supplier's property, even more so. I don't know of any suppliers or manufacturers who will service claims after a tile has been installed. All of the suppliers I work with keep individual shippings of natural products completely separate to maintain as much uniformity in the product going out to the customer. Even then, there can be disparity in a single shipping and it's up to you to visually inspect the tile. I've got a client i'm working with right now that wants a "brushed" version of Seagrass limestone and we are waiting until the end of the month for a new shipment to arrive at one supplier before we confirm the material selection and design. If the color isn't right for her, we'll probably take the design in a different direction. Shaughnn...See MoreBuying house 'parts' online to save...? Recommended sites?
Comments (21)LightingUniverse.com and BuildersDepot.com have been a complete nightmare for me! I ordered lighting from lighting universe and it arrived with parts missing - it obviously was a return as I actually found the nasty note the lady who recieved it before enclosed when she sent it back. I called customer service and they were very nice and said they would send the missing parts. A month and several phone and emails later and I still do not have the parts. I am now in contact with American Express (card I used to purchase with) and they are disputing the charge and getting my money refunded. I also ordered a light from Builders Depot - it was packaged VERY poorly and arrived damaged but my husband fixed it because it was not worth the hassle and expense to ship it back. I did get some beautiful lighting from Pottery Barn and it arrived perfectly and their customer service is top notch - but you will not get any bargains here. I ended up going to my local lighting store and ordering Golden Lighting - I mentioned the prices on the internet and they beat them all and threw in free light bulbs! I couldn't be more pleased. Might as well start at your local lighting store and give them a chance to match or beat prices - it can't hurt to ask! Your local stores are hurting right now and making some fantastic deals - not to mention not having to worry about returning stuff you bought online....See MoreBuying Furniture Online
Comments (3)Look for product reviews. And then try to figure out if the people writing the reviews have the same standards you do. (That's the tricky part--some don't know pine from cherry from laminate.) I've had good luck ordering from Room and Board. They aren't cheap but not really high either. I did sit on a couch in their store before ordering a custom size online which wouldn't be necessary for case goods and tables. We purchased our couch last year and popped off a button yesterday. They're sending someone to fix it which I think is nice....See Morednereid
