BR-111 Amendoim Hard-Wood Floor

Does anyone have any experience with BR-111? We are considering the Amendoim wood floor. It is a 7/16" hardwood and the sample is very beautiful.

The only problem is that it is very light sensitive and will darken significantly. I can live with that, except I'm afraid that the areas under the furniture will remain light while the exposed areas will darken.

Will I need to continuously move furniture around in order to keep the darkening at an even pace throughout?

Is there a saturation point when it stops darkening?

Based on samples I have here of both the Brazilian Cherry and the Amendoim BR-111 samples and other brands as well as from others posting about these two wood species, it seems that Amendoim is only a little bit light sensitive (despite BR-111 saying Medium change in color) while Brazilian Cherry is VERY light sensitive with a dramatic change in color. Each piece of wood will get as dark as it is going to get. I would get a few more pieces of the wood samples and cover half of each piece and put it outside in the direct sun for several hours each day and you will see how dark it will get and when it will stop darkening. This is what I did.

annclark, did you end up buying the BR-111 Amendoim floors? Do you have any pictures? Are you happy with the floors? Is there a lot of knots in the wood? I love the pictures on these lists.

hi i am glad you are considering one of BR111's high quality floors. Wenge is a very unique and exclusive specie, not widely offered as prefinished flooring due to its high costs, due to usages for special panels and specialty projects like high end decorative pieces, etc. The hardness is nothing to worry about,if compared to read oak (1.290 psi). Please note, our unfortunate experience with Br-111 just happened this past year 2013-current. We purchased expensive custom made wide plank engineered wood and paid over $12 sq ft from the current BR-111 (direct). At first, they tried to blame the problems on the wood being exotic, but after sending a video of the cracking that occurred on 100 % of the floor, they agreed it was a manufacturer defect and promised a full refund. This was back in January. It's now May and no refund. Very sad that the owner(s) of this company value money more than integrity. In life, I have witnessed what goes around comes around, and the individuals who have made the decision to withhold money will pay this money out one way or another. Perhaps not to myself, or yourself or even all at once, but rest be assured that any time dishonest money is earned, it washes out like water. It seems heartless that these people with families of their own (who happen to post all their wonderful Facebook events and news) do not have compassion on the customers who like them, only want the best for their families. We were planning on donating the refund to charity if we received it. Both my husband and I both agreed it would be right to do, so now they have not stolen money from a customer, they have stolen it from those who could have used it much more than us. Shame is just not powerful enough a word to put on this company.

kge9, I LOVE your floor. You did a great job at posting the pics and I like the bigger pics. :) Amendoim was one of my top choices also and I can see that I would have been happy with the 5" wide Amendoim Triangulo BR-111 Boards.

Lyptus, BR111 or Mannington engineered wood

Also posted in flooring. I thought my selection was made until an installer sent me to look at some samples. Was set on BR111 Triangulo Amendoim until I saw Lyptus natural. Mannington also has Amendoim in Atlantis Prestige but it is 5 inch. We prefer narrower. Also concerned how much darker wood gets over time. Anyone with experience with these have an opinion, or should I let price help me decide. Waiting to hear estimates on all 3. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

I do think the floors photograph a bit darker than they look in real life. I had also considered the Brazilian Cherry, but I'm glad we went with the Amendoim. I love the color variation, and I like that it won't darken as much as the cherry. It's just beautiful!

I am glad you are happy with your new floors. Do they have some red in them? I would love to see some close up of the knots since maybe they are tiny and will not bother me. I do love the pics of the Amendoim floors on the BR-111 website. How long have you had the floors? What color change can you see if you have a carpet on the floor?

I couldn't figure out how to post a picture in the message from Webshots, but I'll try adding a link. You'll see pictures of the floors in our Living Room, Dining Room, and Study. We have a lot of trees in our neighborhood, and we don't get a lot of direct sunlight. Let me know if you need me to take more pictures! :)

aggietexan, I enjoyed viewing your beautiful home and your beautiful new BR-111 Amendoim Engineered Floors. I just wish I could view them bigger but I could not even after I joined with the new free membership. The floors seem to go very well with all your furniture and your decor and I know you will be happy.

aggietexan, Thank you for allowing viewers to make the pictures bigger unless it is because I joined? Now I am confused again between the Brazilian Cherry floors and the Amendoim. Both are just gorgeous to me. I wish you lived nearby so I could see the floors in person but it looks like you like in Texas and I live in NJ.
