Personaly I have never felt Stanley was quality but Some people have lower standards than others. That Beadboarding on the side is usually not done with real wood.

I have always put Durham in the better quality standard. Solid Maple wood made in North America (Canada)

It is a pretty group. I've seen it. But Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder. (or in this case the checkbook holder ;)

I see now that Durham is quality and I feel the set is prettier in person and you are right that the pretty bead board on the sides is not solid wood.

Surprisingly, The solid wood Durham Furniture was not much more in price than the Veneered (particle board on the sides where the bead board is) Stanley Furniture. It only cost me more because this time I am buying the TV Deck on top of a Junior Chest for my TV while with the Stanley Set the bureau was too long to fit this piece in my bedroom so I could only fit a night stand in the corner to put my TV on. If I got a night stand instead, the price would have been less but of course the dresser is a double dresser and not a triple dresser in size like was buying from Stanley Furniture. But Durham Furniture's prices are actually very good for solid wood. My Royal Cottage Set from Durham will be solid Maple Wood.

Anyone know the approximate price of Durham Armoire in any of their lines?

dg926, tomorrow I will get out my price list and let you know the prices I paid for each piece of furniture. I saved so much by going with the Flemington Department store (about 1 hour from me which had prices better than Lexington Furniture if you add use/sales tax to the Lexington Furntiure prices) rather than a local store. I called Durham Furniture for retailers within 2 hours of me that were on good terms with them. I know I paid a little bit more for the shutter door rather than the regular doors for the beauty but the price was still very reasonable for solid maple wood furniture and was not much more than Stanley Manufacturing's veneered furniture made in China. I also love that there is a surge protector with plug outlets inside the doors and a place for my VCR/DVD player I just bought.

It is 12:50 AM and I must get some sleep from doing tax returns all day and night so I will look for you tomorrow since I put the file in my other file cabinet that is not next to me desk to make room for my new 2008 files. Since the furniture is made in Canada, it was ready in 6 weeks.
