Wilsonart Red Label - Installer didn't glue ends

I'm having a problem with the planks seperating because the installer (not wilsonart certified) didn't glue the ends. No one will touch it due to liability issues. I can't get in touch with the person who did it either. What can I do?

that needs to be addressed with the person you paid for the work since it's an installation guarantee claim and not a manufacturers warentee claim.

If you can not find the person you paid to install it to get your money back, replacement is probably your only alternative.

What do you mean, glue the ends? We have recently starting having many, many separations in our Wilsonart. It is two years old. I watched the guys install it and the flooring place recommended they glue every seam. They did. I have at least 20 places which have separated up to 1/4 of an inch within the past couple of months.

I've never heard of anyone in my area being Wilsonart certified.

I know the purpose of this topic and forum is to find frugal ways of doing things. But sometimes frugal is more work and/or less than satisfactory. Several years ago, I bit the bullet and bought a Brother P-Touch labeler. They have several products and some are reasonably priced. But I went "whole hog" and bought the most expensive one which cost me $100 at the time. The current similar model is much cheaper now - around $50, I think. You might try eBay. I bought it to make labels for my perennials. Everything else I have tried which have been mentioned here have to be redone frequently and each time time you lose much of the original plant info. The beauty of this printer is that it hooks up to your computer! I make the labels on the computer, same the label to a file on my computer, then print them out. These labels stay perfect in any weather and sun Forever! If you lose the label, you can look up the label in the computer and print out another one anytime. So you never lose all the original info for your plant. I know this isn't a frugal idea but our time is valuable too and saving time is as important as saving money. I still use mini-blinds but when you break them or your chickens run off with them, its so easy and quick to print up another one. You can make the type size as large or small as you want which is great for me now that I am older and I can't read the old labels with the smaller type size so make another and enlarge the type. Its an investment just like all your other good garden tools and worth it in the long run. Its handy to make labels for everything and they even have iron-on labels. Think about it, Barbara

Thank you all very much for sharing. I just put a bid on some DecoColor: Opaque paint marker on ebay. About my poor new bareroot trees, i do have the holes dug and all, and a very good compost under a tarp is waiting for planting time, hope they don't freeze in their box in the garage. A package arrived to day with no name of sender, except for part of the address "1380 Co Rd 137 Horen...35655 And, GW trading packages do come in boxes, contrary to the belief of some at GW. This box came with a beautiful cutting of Brugnansia Charles Grimaldi in it an a packet of unidentified berries. I went thru all my records to find who this person is, and comcast email does not do the search for a a certain plant name and it looks thru the all the folders for it,and I cannot find who this person is, am so so sorry. So if you are my mysterious benefactor, thank you so much for a wonderful gift. And for all of you who had to pitch in a few cents to receive your package from me , because of my inexperience (am getting a postal scale) you are so wonderful and so patient! I promise to make it up to you. Chris PS: My grand daughter Gabriella(3 -1/2 yrs old)has been giggling all day long today, after she helped me WS some perennials. She fell in love with the name 'Kiss me over the garden gate" and couldn't say the name without giggling, she wanted to tell everyone what cool flower she planted, a close second was the 'angel's fishing wand'(they're in the 'princess stage'at the moment), I was left to plant 'cocosmia lucifer' when i made a face, she said 'Lucifer is a very bad cat'(from Cinderella) I had a chance to elaborate a bit on the original Lucifer who wants all men to be miserable as he is. She also planted sweet williams for her only boy cousin Will and grandpa DH William. She went to bed still giggling whenever she thought of the name'kiss me over the garden gate' Her little sister didn't care about the names at all, and how they sounded, she just wanted to plant the pretty berries, I have to admit the Strawberry Bush berry is just too beautiful to pass up even for me! I had some cottoneaster berries drying out on a dish with 2 currant cherry tomatoes, and before I could do anything about it , she had patted everything down and covered them very verrry generously in another rotisserie chicken bottom tray, and she indicated that the plant needed a 'dwink' and proceeded to put the cover on and got the tape for me. Thank you Tanya for your beautiful treasures. Ella said to me when she put her containers outside in the snow "Meme (grandma), I will pway for them evewy day and watch them gwow every day!" WS was such a huge hit(and mess) they didn't want to leave to go to the library for story time!

That is a great point about never being able to "refinish" a laminate! I never thought of that. And I know what you mean about something that's "real" reALLY lOOking REAL! I've got some beautiful granite on the kitchen counters and porcelain tile in my sun room. Never ever does it bug me and THAT's because it's the real thing I think. My main idea was that I didn't want any grout lines and that Wilsonart is sotight that it almost looks like stained concrete. Of course, there's obviously going to be a "repeat" in the pattern somewhere, and, if you look at different angles in different light you'll definitely see the separation lines in the tiles. It IS tight though like I wanted. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, after a year of putting this off, I thought I'd come to a decision. I KNEW my sixth sense was telling me I'm not yet comfortable with this decision. Tell me, if you know, is there any sort of weight issue with slate? I'm putting this all on a raised floor (about 2 steps up from the great room level)(long story, this is a remodeled school! haha) Because the floor is raised via a knee wall (floor joists, plywood floor, etc) I'm wondering about weight with slate, ceramic/porcelain, or similar. Anyone laid Wilsonart laminate using BlueFusion adhesive???

Wilsonart makes a very good product. To the best of my knowledge all of their lines are HPL (high pressure laminate), very few of the other manufacturers even offer HPL in their top lines. HPL is harder and more durable.... also can burn out a saw blade on one job.

that is unusual behavior and could be a factory defect.

Thanks, I'll probably do both. Our installers are all independent contractors and I've had an email into my intaller. I'm afraid he may think I'm blaming him and I'm not. I know they did a good job installing.

Update and thank you. Both the flooring company and installer were here to day. Apparently the end separation is not too unusual in our dry Alaskan climate, but the long separations are. Wilsonart will be paying my installer to first try and pull things back together with a vacuum type machine and we'll see if it lasts. If not, we may need to replace, but I would really like to stay with this flooring. We wanted the stair treads that only Wilsonart makes and the flooring looks very, very nice. Most people coming into our home think it is wood at first. Most of our house is done in this product, so I hope the quick fix works.

I'm not seeing how it could separate if it's glued Gloria. Wilsonart now has gone to the Tap-N-Lock system on all their products, I can only speculate as to why.

If this repair does not remedy your problem i would have it in writing that it be replaced. Using the sution cups to pull them together may or may not work. To make sure it works the quarter round needs to be removed and both ends of each adjoined row should be wedged tightly while he works on closing up the middle row. If that is not done it could cause more separations. Since the quarter round is off by now, I would be using a heavy duty pull bar instead of the suction cups.

Thanks, Jerry. I really don't understand what's happening with this floor. I watched the guys glue everything and tap in their those rubber hammers. I didn't even use a recommendation from the flooring place, but used my own independent installer. We never got the baseboard up, so we pointed all all of the places that the outer edge spacing has disappeared. I'm really thinking we got some defective stuff. It is happening in all of the areas. We put down around 2,000 square feet. One place it split on the long direction was only 6" from a transition place and the flooring guy could feel under that baseboard heat that the edge spacing was correct.

One nice thing is that we are a small isolated town (less than 300,000 people) and it's the kind of place where word of mouth is still an important part of doing business.
