Thoughts on 'Fit Wash' ??
Comments (24)Flora, That is as sensible of a website as I have seen. Very well done. I am glad you posted it. Annie is right. To me it is ridiculous to buy water in a bottle ! It is the same tap water we drink. I cannot believe the waste of money on this stuff. People are so gullible. I agree, Annie, I think vit.c tablets crushed or open capsules are a smart way to go. I was just fortunate enough to find a whole dozen jars of Fruit Fresh marked down really cheap. Cheaper than getting the vit.c tablets, so of course, I snatched them all up. It amazes me how people buy a boiled egg, too. One boiled egg in a little package for over a dollar !! You can get a whole dozen for that. They even buy one potato wrapped in plastic wrap for some enormous price. If they only want one potato, at least buy it out of a bin and not wrapped in plastic wrap. I had some gal that wanted me to show her how to can peaches. She came to my home with a box of individually wrapped peaches in a box ! She paid some crazy price for them. At least 3 time what it should cost for a box of peaches. Another gal was buying fruit by the pound in the grocery store for some very expensive price to can. I told her it was much cheaper to go on the next street over from the grocery store and get a whole box at the produce market. The produce market is literally right behind the grocery store. You can see it from the parking lot. She was amazed. Wow ! You can buy a whole box cheaply ? They have no clue how to buy produce. Me, I am crazy. Why do I collect more food to deal with when everything is so full already ? Just because it was free !! I better get going on those apples....See MoreProblems with Lincoln Windows?
Comments (87)I have sold and installed windows for 33 years. 99% of problems are caused by builders who let the framers install windows. They don't let framers install cabinets do they? I replaced Marvin, Pella, Weathershield, Lincoln, Kolbe and Kolbe, (insert name here)...and they all leak if they are installed improperly. I have been told 100's of times by builders who build average 10,000 sqft homes "that as long as they last for 1 year", because that is most builders warranty. Horizontal sliders are the least efficient window produced by any manufacture (not counting the cheap vinyl windows made). All label and tested windows have an air and water infiltration rating posted on their website and put on a sticker on the glass of every window delivered. Your builder can also use a product called SillDry which is the best product to install in the opening before and window is installed. When a windows starts to leak (and they will all leak because most homeowners do not properly maintain them) the silldry product will keep the water from getting into the house. So stop complaining and get the person who installed them involved because they are the ones who are probably responsible for leaking windows. Also in the early 2000's many companies purchased cardinal float glass but very few major window manufactures purchased Cardinal I.G. units. That came from a Cardinal glass plant tour I took in 2004 with Eagle Windows which were purchased by Andersen windows....See MorePorchguy. Windows on Wash & others: Window wall leaks
Comments (6)Obviously it is difficult to evaluate the leak over the internet despite your detailed description. If all three doors are leaking, obviously there was a serious design defect in the door or a poor installation. If you are going to tackle this job yourself, eliminate those sources of leaks that you can identify and work backwards. If you are going to at minimum replace the glass, don't be afraid to throw a bit of silicon caulk at it in the meantime to eliminate that glazing leak from the pool. Definitely get rid of that damning effect because that will cause nearly every door to leak if you pool water up against it. Weather stripping will help but I suspect your leak is more involved than that. How do the door operate? Are they square and plumb across the jamb? What is the exterior around the doors?...See MorePGT vs CWS for Impact Windows
Comments (84)DO NOT BUY PGT WINDOWS! SIX YEARS AGO WE BOUGHT OVER $47,000.00 WINDOWS AND SLIDERS (7 SLIDERS) - as of yesterday I just filed / called for replacement of our fourth sliding glass panel doors - these are the Miami Dade double insulated with all the extras - failing. The seals do not hold. The company we bought the window/sliders from does not like going thru all the trouble to replace and then reinstall....they can charge me whatever price they want for labor. PGT will replaced the windows - they will probably say "out of warranty" - it is very unclear just exaclty what their warranty is (!). Do NOT do business with PGT....I am at the point of just replacing every defective window with a different brand .....this is so unfair and unprofessional and poor business standards.......See Morebstnh1
