Looking for taller than average console table

I am looking for a console-type table for my dining room. It has to be at least 40" wide but no more than about 48"; about 15" deep; and taller than the average 30" -- needs to be about 36-42" tall. I am open to any type of furniture, doesn't have to be a "console" or "sideboard". I have even thought about a bookshelf, but I don't need the shelves so I don't think that is the answer. Looking for a creative solution but I don't seem to be able to come up with one myself! Any suggestions?

Other than that you'll have a very hard time finding a console table that narrow AND that tall. Honestly something that narrow and that tall will can be rather tipsy. Have you thought about a shelf mounted to the wall?

Do you want it to be able to hold platters and such? Or do you just want to display knickknacks?

What is your style? Traditional or more modern? (I know there are more styles than this; just trying to get the feeling)

A creative solution could be to find a carpenter to make you something exactly to your specifications; it would not be a difficult job--I'd imagine someone doing some creative edge work on the piece. And there are a few Websites of places that sell table legs (I've come across both wood and metal). You could get somebody to make you a wood top and then attach legs, and you could probably stain the piece yourself! You could use 2 legs and an L bracket at the back of the table to affix it to the wall, or 4 legs for a regular movable table.

My Perfume Perfection is currently pushing towards 6-7 feet. However I didn't prune it this winter, as I wanted it to get taller... and it is several years old now, it takes a while to get tall... Just because a rose is listed as a 'floribunda' doesn't always mean 'short'... I found this out the hard way... You might wanna move the taller one and try to find a shorter one to put in front of PP... rather than trying to fight against it's nature...

I just purchased a dresser/buffet type piece to use as a TV console on a long wall and it is very close to the dimensions you want. It is on raised feet so it is open at the bottom too. I didn't want to spend a lot and planned to either paint or refinish the piece so I searched used furniture places. I ended up finding the piece for $35 at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. Perhaps looking for something like a dresser or buffet would give you the dimensions you're looking for. I found many dressers that fit my dimension requirements and not all of them look like traditional bedroom dressers. The one I found has four drawers across the top and doors below which will provide great storage.

I love your coffee table. Just looked over at my current setup, and my coffee table is indeed higher than the sofa/couch. The same is true in my current build. Basically, the main issue is: can people easily reach their beverages or finger food edibles? There really hasn't been a problem. The two end tables are even taller. The three tables came as a set inherited from my grandparents, so there's definitely a precedent here. PS I love your table! (Oh, I said that already...!)

Bookcases are up! Or, at least two of them are ☺️ I ordered three, which would exactly fill this wall. But now I’m thinking maybe two is better: if I want the sofa centered on the fireplace (which I’m pretty sure I do), then the third might make the walkway from the living to the dining part of the room feel pinched. What do you think? I have lots of great art waiting to be hung, and I’m thinking maybe using the space on either side of the shelves for a painting or two, rather than adding the third set of shelves? Please excuse the messy table 😆 I‘d also be grateful for any thoughts about the styling — I put this together late at night, with lots of sentimental treasure that have been hanging out in inappropriate places around the house. I have other spots to display things, though, so if anything is out of place, it can be relocated (except for the baskets — there’s one of those for each of my kids for homeschool work; they like to work in the dining room lately, and I’m happy to give them space as long as everything goes back in the basket when they’re done).
