Need help finding bedroom furniture pieces

I am looking for bedroom furniture pieces (i.e. armoire, headboard, night tables,etc) in a medium brown wood tone. My style is traditional/transitional, not too ornate, with clean, elegant lines. I would like the quality to be in the mid-level range.

If you have purchased bedroom furniture recently or know of furniture that fits this description, would you please share the manufacturer, collection, where you purchased it, and a photo, if possible?

Hi Jac929,

DH & I recently redecorated our bedroom and bought new furniture. Sounds like you may have the same preferences we do. We bought Thomasville King Street - classic simple Louis Phillippe style in cherry with a cognac stain (a beautiful warm brown tone). For me, the prices were high, but from reading the posts on this site, I think Thomasville is considered mid-level. Might be worth looking into for you. We love it! I think they may also be having a spring sale right now.

Alrighty... I have been to JC Penny's (and a dz other stores) and am having trouble finding the right shade of grey. BUT- I have had no trouble finding blues!!!!! Would it be possible to bring blue into this room with window treatments and maybe a rug? These WT are from JC Penny's... they are not the right length, I just brought them home for color. It's a blue/grey... WDYT? Wide, just so you can see the color. and here they are more "closed" which is how I would hang them. I'm a little concerned they look "random"... like, where did I get the blue from? Thoughts? Also- we got our triple dresser. And *shudder* we got a new TV. We are not a big TV family (in fact, we just went from 1 TV to 2) but I like to watch the news as I get ready.... I know, I know... many of you are cringing. So am I. Until I get to watch the Today Show in the morning... I am feeling much more informed! ;) It's a beast. I also got a cute little (faux) orchid on clearence at Target. WDYT? How else do I decorate this wall (this is opposite the bed.)

Are you the only person who uses this room? Is the only window in the front end? You want your shoes to be on display, correct? How many pair are we talking about here? What is your style? I guess without knowing the answers to my questions, if it were me, I would put the head of the bed against the window rather than on the long wall on either side. Otherwise you will have to walk around the end of the bed to get to the window end of the room. Shoes in an armoire? There are lots of cute shoe storage ideas on Pinterest.

I found some info: it's from the discontinued San Juan Collection by Progressive Furniture and is distressed pine. There's two nightstands by that company in similar finishes that are available, but I would try to find a night stand or side table with a metal base and pine top between 29" to 34" in height (or a smidge higher, your mattress looks thick). I think that would look good. You are welcome. Most of the time, I do place the bed in the back of the room , facing the door. Normally the bed is the largest visual piece in the room. In this case, the bed is rather short and the other pieces dominate it. So, it feels better with these larger pieces on the far wall. The bed is still in a good spot.

Oops, forgot to say which pieces and where we purchased it. We bought the king sleigh bed, 2 bachelors chests to be used as nightstands (great storage), the big armoire (holds tv/audio equipment and drawers for more clothes) and the mirrored wardrobe. Some pieces were purchased at a Star Furniture Outlet, where I originally discovered the line; and others were purchased at the Thomasville store.

We have a smallish bedroom, but needed a lot of storage. The pieces we purchased worked out great because they're big and beautiful, but efficient enough that we didn't need the whole suite.

Although it has not been delivered yet I made a purchase of bedroom furniture from Lexington of Kentucky. The manufacturer is Hickory White and the collection is American Home. Not quite as simple as Louis Phillppe but certainly not ornate. My purchase was tall dresser, night stand, bachelor chest and armoire. Total including shippping will run approx. $5000. I did not purchase a bed. Lexington got good reviews here on this site. If you go to their website you can view many manufacturers. Hickory White's website, the last time I checked, was still under construction. Hickory White is not super high end but probably would be considered slightly above mid price. I will post again when I take delivery.
