recliner or chair/ottoman
Comments (10)I agree that both brands are not very good. My best friend has Lazy-Boy and learned real fast that they were not a good investment. Although recliners have improved over the years, recliners are not known to be sturdy pieces of furniture. I'd go with the chair and ottoman. But if you really want a recliner, check out the Hancock and Moore. The MSRP is high, but you can get a really good price from Lexington Furniture Company in Lexington KY on Hancock and Moore. Website is lexfurniture.com. I can't comment on their delivery service as I have not recieved my furniture yet. I've heard that their D & D delivery company is lousey. I requested they use Sun delivery when my furniture is ready....See MoreBuying a sectional sofa, need advice please.
Comments (4)If you look at the manufactures suggested by spolina (Baker's Milling Road Collection, Hancock And Moore, Bernhardt, Lexington Brands, Swaim) then you can definitely buy below MSRP. Check Boyles in NC and Lexington Furniture Company in Lexington, KY. I have never gotten a better price locally. The best price has always come from these two stores. You just need to find what you want by looking in your local store, then contact Boyles and Lexington for a quote. I have purchased a Kindel dining room set; Hancock & Moore sofa; chair, & ottoman; Hickory Chair sofa, chair & ottoman; EJ Victor chair; Hekman table; Baker bed; Hickory Chair nightstands; Century sofa; Stickley desk; Wildwood lamps; and a Bernhardt bed in the past 5 years. Only the Stickley desk was cheaper locally as I got it on a double sale. The price difference depends on the brand. Manufactures by law cannot dictate the 3rd party retailer's selling price. The way they get around the law is to make it clear that they will not supply a store that sells below a certain minimum. They claim doing so ensures the "value" of the product brand. One brand my tolerate a minimum of 25% below MSRP; another will tolerate 30% below MSRP. Stores like Bassett and Ethan Allen hold the line on their price. If they have a sale, you get the sale price. Otherwise, the price is the price. Bassett will probably not give you the quality and look you are after....See More? about Lexington furniture or Boyles
Comments (4)Been doing business with Boyles in Hickory for years and have had no problems. Just one order with Lexington, so I cannot say whether they are good as my furniture has not been delivered yet. I will say that some companies are putting pressure on Boyles to not sale out-of-state unless you have been in the store in the last year. There is no way for the companies to confirm either way...they can only demand that someone from Boyles pose the question to you. Your answer is your answer. Boyles has to charge sales tax...Lexington does not. Boyles and Lexington have pretty much the same prices on most things--but not always. Lexington's delivery service, D & D has the worst reputation in the industry. Ask for Sun Delivery if you can afford the extra cost. Lexington has a special out-of-state sales group. Normally, you have to send them an email and someone will call you when they get around to it (lexfurniture.com). It took them a week to call me. Lexington customer service is so-so. You also have to do your own paperwork. You need to know all of the questions to ask about the furniture--they don't provide much in the way of asking you about finishes on exposed wood, etc. You need to know that stuff and write it on your paperwork. Boyles does the paperwork for you, asks all of the questions, then they fax or mail it to you. You then review, initial and sign, then fax or mail it back (they do not send paperwork via email). Boyles, you can call direct. So far, their customer service has been 100% (from their Hickory store). I've made 8 or more purchases and never a problem. Currently have furniture on order and don't expect any problems. Just recieved three orders in the past 3 months. Both stores take credit cards for the deposit, but you have to pay the balance by check. Lexington's delivery is much more costly and they will only take a cashier's check or money order for the delivery charge--which you pay to the driver. Boyles' balance is payable at the time of delivery. You just give a check made out to Boyles to the driver. A separate check is made out to Classics for the delivery. Delivery is prompt--they have many trucks going out on a regular basis, so you don't have to wait additional weeks to get your funiture. Lexington, you have to send them the money before delivery will be approved. For Lexington, you also have to be available for a 3 or 4 day window for delivery...yes, a 3 or 4 day window. They come when they come. Also, you may have paid for your furniture in full, but you may wait up to 8 weeks for Lexington to deliver as their company will not transport anything until they have a full load headed your way. But in exchange, you get a low price and no tax....See MoreLexington Furniture Co + Fine Furniture Design FFDM
Comments (2)If you mean Lexfurniture company in Kentucky, as a place to buy furniture, they are in business. I just ordered from them and had great service and price. I have bought from them twice, large amounts of furniture and still plan on buying more from them. Highly recommended....See Morecheerit
