Help! Very high electricity bill after solar panel installation
Comments (17)I was curious as to why you are referring to solar energy in gallons instead of kwh kilowatt hours? I have never heard of storing gallons of energy. Energy is stored in batteries that are not measured by gollons but instead are measured by cranking amps, and cold cranking amps. If you have energy storage containers they would be somewhat like large car batteries or more likely similar to forklift batteries . I have 17 4'x8' solar panels that supply power for my house and is supposed to put excess energy into the energy company grid and credit me for the energy that they receive . The actual process is that the electric company gets my excess energy and they give me a $2,200 dollar bill at the end of the year. I think I am being ripped off and have no proof or anyone to give the proof to. I am wishing I didn't spend $14,000 dollars for solar panels and still had $120 electric bill instead of $180 x 12 months all at once. But hopefully you at least didn't have to spend $14,000 to get a larger electric bill ad I did....See Morereplace particle board before install HW
Comments (4)Thanks for the responses: Jerry t--I have been quoted about 1400 (roughly) total sq feet, and it is our home. The $9000 quote for simply removing particle board then replacing with plywood was only one aspect of a very high estimate. I think that what we may end up doing is pulling up the particle board ourselves and either paying the installer or having my husband put down the plywood. I am just not comfortable having the flooring installed over just the subfloor. I don't believe the subfloor is 3/4" anyway and that just makes it worse in my opinion! Floorguy, the plywood simply looks like a 4x4 sheet (or something approximating those dimensions); I see no indication that there is T & G by looking at it....See MoreNew Trane system quote seems very high
Comments (2)Absurd pricing and probably the system quoted is overkill. What does new vents mean? I assume nat gas is your fuel choice for heating. I would recommend XV95 Trane furnace with XR17 AC condenser, all correctly sized. Not a fan of Clean Effects; go with Perfect Fit media filter cabinet. HW VP IAQ thermostat. Same system available from Trane's sister company, Am Standard. Just curious, what size HVAC are you replacing? Post back. IMO...See MoreOmega Cabinet installation cost high?
Comments (8)Who is doing the design work? Who is pulling the permits? Hiring the dumpster? Doing the demo and paying for the disposal fee for the old cabinets? Who is providing the floor protection and taping off everything with plastic to protect the rest of the home? Placing the extra air filters and HEPA scrubber? What about planning and executing the under cabinet lighting? What about the rest of the lighting? What about the vent hood? Replacing the drain, supply lines and shut off valves? Running the new line to the ice maker? Who is doing all of the appliance connections? What about your flooring? That needs to be dealt with. What about drywall repair and painting following the electrical disturbance? I’m sure that all of that and more is taking place. You don’t understand what goes into a whole kitchen’s remodel‘s labor budget. You’re leaving tons of things out and calling it all “installation”. There’s much more work to it than that....See Moreiionidii
