Warning about BuildDirect!!!! The company is based in Vancouver British Columbia. If there is a problem with your product or your order. This makes it difficult to legally pursue them. When you purchase from BuildDirect, the Terms of Use of their website WAIVES YOUR RIGHT TO SUE them in small claims court. Further the terms of use also means you agree to have any dispute settled by an arbitration organization THAT BUILDDIRECT CHOOSES. You be the judge if that places you the consumer at a disadvantage. Lastly if you choose to participate in this arbitration process, you must travel to Vancouver British Columbia to do so. BuildDirect uses all these tactics as in my case to avoid honoring their warranty.

Here are the reasons that you SHOULD NOT buy from them. 1) They are based in Canada. If they screw up, you will have a really hard time trying to recover losses in court. 2)Their wood products are made in China. They Claim that they manufacture to same standard as U.S. but I know first hand that this is not the case as explained below. 3) I purchased engineered hardwood flooring which delaminated in dozens of places. According to U.S. standards this should not occur even in the event of flooding. BuildDirect did not honor their structural warranty by claiming it was because my house is too dry. Well according to the manufacturing standards that they claim to meet, this should not matter, it should not delaminate anywhere in the U.S. despite being humid or dry. Further why do they sell to locations that they know are very dry, if this causes a problem for their defective products. They will attempt to find some excuse to not honor their warranty if it fails.

did you go with the Yanchi? I too am looking at bamboo and trying to decide on the best brand. Would be interested in your experiences. I have a US Floors Natural strand woven sample that I like - it's engineered. I also have a natural floors sample that's solid. I like that too. I ordered a Cali bamboo sample in natural - it's too yellow for me. Much more yellow than the other two companies. Why do they make so many choices!

Never heard of those brands. For what it's worth, none of those floors are handscraped. It's done by machine and it looks like it. Real handscraped wood is subtle and beautiful, even when painted. It reflects light with a barely discernible shimmer as you move. This is a coarse, crude, mass produced shallow imitation of the real thing. OTOH, these at no worse than any other mass-market company's "handscraped" floors. So...
