We went with Bel Pre Glasswork out of Rockville, MD. While we have been very pleased with their work I'm not sure that they have the cheapest prices. I would definitely shop around. I know there are some stores around Chantilly, VA that offer glass shower doors. If you do a google search several stores should come up.

We are just finishing our build down in So. MD...plastering tomorrow. We went with A&S and have been pretty happy with them. All of the subs seemed good, especially the decking (Santos.) Not really any issues at all, but it was a little annoying that they normally called and left a message only the day before they were going to do something with the pool, which was a pain when we had to take off work. They are transitioning a scheduler, so that might have been a temporary thing. Also, it seemed like the Sales group has a lot more leverage with price than after you signed the contract. We added some stuff into the addendum (actually easy to do) but the pricing on those items seemed a little high....but not a big deal. As far as the pool is concerned, we haven't gotten it filled, but we're really happy with it. Our backyard was quite a challenge becaus of it being hilly; but the Sales guy came up with a good plan on how to work with it and its looking really good.

I hope this thread's not too old to add to. I did some investigating today. I've only seen soapstone a few times but have read every thread on here. I visited Designer Surfaces and Grantops in Frederick today. Very interesting! Designer Surfaces had Green Mountain Original on display and gave me a quick quote based on a very rough drawing. I was told they had very little stock but were expecting more very soon. At Grantops, I was shown a few slabs outside that were very green, and flakey /crumbly. It seemed quartz-like to me, with white crystals mixed in? (I am not a geologist!) I was assured that is was soapstone, but it looked extremely different than the display and sample I saw at Designer Surfaces. It was marked (I think) "Savon Pierre" on the side. A google search shows that this may be Canadian, and good for carving? Very strange! I made a quick stop at Home Depot tonight as my son wanted some duct tape. I walked thru the kitchen area and noticed that they are selling this exact same soapstone (same name too). I asked the store associate ( a very, very young man) about it and he told me it was real soapstone, but you couldn't put it in a kitchen because it was extremely porous. He said it was great for bathroom vanities. Bizarre, don't you think? I also called Carapace last week and they said they only had "the green kind that nobody wants". Maybe he too was referring to this "Savon Pierre"?

Thanks for the responses. The wood came from a mill in TN. I called and talked to the the company I ordered through and they sent me the NWFA installation guidelines, but didn't have any specific beyond that. The NWFA installation guidelines don't seem to get too specific on wide plank installs though. So it looks like I don't really have any mfg guidelines to be following here. G&S, you said use a roll on vapor retarder and then apply beads of glue directly onto the subfloor? How does that work? Are you putting the vapor retarder and then applying beads of glue on top of that, rather than the plywood subfloor? Or did I misread that and you meant skip the vapor retarder and apply beads directly to plywood subfloor and then nail? What vapor retarder do you use, and what glue for your beads?
