I do not have a suggestion for a tool set other than perhaps looking at junk shops, antique stores, etc. and get an old brass set. otherwise, you'll just need to bring a set in when rain is predicted. That's what I do with the mirror over my outside fireplace. Speaking of rain, do you have trouble with rain coming through your stone and seeping inside of the fireplace? We have brick and that's what's happening. We also have gas, so the fiber stuff around the grate is getting soaked and the pilot light goes out when wet. So irritating!

The very last page of the product literature on the official heat'n glo site states "18.1% efficiency". It is on the lower right-hand corner in a box. Heat n'Glo is NOT a "better" brand. To confirm this further, I checked to see who carries these in my state. NOT to my surprise, no reputible stove/fireplace shops carry these. Only wholesale "builders" supply places carry these. That is a big give-away as to the low quality of this brand. There are many other brands that have something similar that you would be happy with that wouldn't cost much more, if anything. I suggest you visit your local stove/fireplace shops and see what they offer. Also ask them about this particular fireplace. This brand is not a good choice. If you have read the other threads on this brand you will see that loud banging noises seems to be a problem in addition to paint problems. Of course, you can purchase whatever you wish. We are just warning you about this particular brand.

Blowers are useless outside, since hot air just goes straight up. The only heat you are going to feel outside is radiant, and an unvented model is not the best choice for that. Both the Montigo and American Hearth/ White Mountain Hearth units are well made and will deliver drama. If heat is on your priority list, you might do a little more research and try to find a way to get some radiant heat. You might want to look into one of these: Town & Country WS54 Outdoor

I'd think about converting it to a pizza oven.
