Advice for first-time aerator user?
Comments (13)I'm with mrl05. The very first time I used an aerator for my project, I wasn't expecting the hard pull the first time I pulled back to propell the unit. Be prepared for it, it will be a surprise. It actually pulled a muscle in my back and I was beat after aerating my lawn. I have about 6,000 square feet, so I don't have that much to do. I did the aeration, seeding, fertilization and rolled on the same day. I slept very good that evening. If I had not pulled that muscle, life would've been not nearly so bad, so just be careful....See Morefirst time orchid, who do you think has the best deal?
Comments (26)My wife and I ordered orchids from Houserman a year and a half ago and we were send orchids that were in very poor condition and not the sizes we ordered.Several were in such bad shape that we immediately contacted them and was told there was nothing they would do.We took all of the orchids putchased from them to the N.C.S.U Lab for testing due to the feat that they could be infected with a virus.I was contacted in a week and told that infact the orchids we delivered to them from Housermans orchids infacted tested positive for virus' and it was recomended that they all be distroyed. We had contacted them first by phone and informed them of the poor condition of the orchids they shipped us along with the fact that the 2 Angracieum Sesquipedial in spike was not shipped as ordered as was not the 3 Vanillia Planifolia or the 5 assorted Neofinetia's we had ordered. That was when we were told there was nothing they would do.After we recieved the information from the lab we contacted them again and again we were told that they were not going to do anything about refunding our money, replacing the plants and that they never shorted shipments therefore we could forget recieving the missing plants from them.We have been growing orchids in my family for 40 years and never had such a problem with a grower or fellow orchidist before and we have contacted them on several occasions since but no replies to our problem. So they have given me no choice but to let everyone know to Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris Perhaps with the word getting our Housermans will start treating customers better. Returning their calls and emails would be one place to start!...See Morefirst time SBM user - Wow
Comments (4)yah i think that what happens if you put too much... its blocking the sun, etc. i think it has the effect of mulch, or having a lot of thatch. and then of course it takes longer to break down. maybe you could try and rake it around if its still piled up there. or rake it and spread it if you spill it in the future....See Morenew gas fireplace, first time use question
Comments (5)Congratulations. You got probably the safest, most energy efficient fireplace on the market these days. A brand new direct vent system will emit an odor the first time it is used, I think, because many of its components are painted and the paint gives off a smell when it is exposed to high temperatures for the first time. I remember our direct vent system smelled the first time we used it. That was three years ago. I do not remember having to open windows to clear the sir of odor. After all, the direct vent system efficiently exhausts fumes up the chimney to the outside. That's the beauty of the system. So opening windows should not be necessary. But I suppose if the smell is very strong and aversive, it might dissipate more rapidly if you open a window or two. Come to think of it, our three year old system emitted an odor, sort of a metallic smell, for a few minutes the first time we used it for this season about 2 weeks ago. My dear wife, who is much more sensitive to smells than I, complained about the odor. So I shut the thing off until she went out shopping. I think that if you find the odor very aversive, open the window as recommended. Alternatively, you could probably turn it on for a shorter interval than 6 hours, say, one or two hours, the first time, and allow the system to "cure" or whatever gradually. Good luck...See MoreSwitching2Wood
